Well it gave out at high speed but it still ran thank god. I was on the freeway and i cought a bimmers eye... so he passed me at like a 100 mph... well a couple a seconds later im catchin and at 110 i hear a big bang that sounded like a backfire (my sr20 backfires anyways) and i was still on the gas but no go. It slowed down. At first i thought it was my clutch but it didnt slip. i slowed down till about 75 and threw it back in 5th and went to work. Now im at work wondering wtf happened. Now im sure the fact i have 170km on my sr20 matters so my question to you guys is what could have possibly happen. i have a red top in my 92 240sx.

Of course you give basically zero useful information in your post other than your car went bang at 100.

Check all of the hoses that see boost. Hotpipe, IC pipes, etc. Wiggle them to see if they're tight or not. Loss of boost is loss of pressure sometimes. Do you ahve a boost gauge? How does that read? Do you have any other gauges? Any CEL?

useful information. If i had any information on what happened i wouldnt be askin for some..all hoses are fine car drives like it never happened.. i have a boost and a/f gauge boost reads solid 8.5 spikes like a MF though... last night spiked to 16lbs a/r gauge is correctly connected reads one bar on the rich side... anything else you need to know? i just need some suggestions

someone correct me if im wrong, but the a/f gauge should read full rich under acceleration. maybe there is a leak after the MAF...

The big bang makes me think maybe one of your intercooler pipes blew off. That may or may not be it, but you should check that.

That's true too.

You should try another test run. Maybe go WOT for a few seconds, lift off, slow down and go WOT again. Maybe the change in pressure is causing something to go loose.

car's don't usually run full rich under WOT, but they will run onto the rich side.

speed limiter maybe? does the sr/ka ecu have a speed limiter built in? because maybe thats what happened. but i still dont understand the bang...

i doubt it was an I/C pipe that blew off. when one of mine did it wouldnt hardly rev, wouldnt idle, and black smoke poured out. did go pop tho

Ill tell you it felt eactly like a speed limiter. But ive gone speeds much more than 100 in my sr. i havnt checked the intercooler piping yet but the intercooler is damaged..looks like someone tried to take a bite out of it. as for the a/f gauge it reads the same all the time so i must have hooked it up wrong. I have it spliced into the white wire above the O2 sensor. ive gone wot even went past 100mph and nothing seems to be wrong. Friend of mine said it sounds like detonation. Could that be it? A bad turbo since it seems to spike when i shift into 2nd and into 3rd (set at 9 lbs spikes to 11~16 lbs). Ernie Fixmer told me that i should get an electronic boost controller since the wastegate is internal and the spiking is normal but only a couple of lbs. As for a leak past the MAF sensor how would i check that?

Thanks for the input
