Someone hasn't looked at broadfield's thread. He's proven time and time again how useful it is. Also, have you tried paying someone to do custom fiberglass work? That s*** is expensive.

Oh, I've seen Broadfields thread...that dude is my hero. everything is so clean and so sexy... he does amazing work.
And yes I have looked into having someone do fiberglass.....thats what made me say "oh F**K!!!" and learn how to do it myself lol. Its realy not hard at all. even the sub boxes. Basicly its expensive for the same reason body work is expensive (fiberglass is actualy how i taught myself body work). Your not paying for materials, your paying for laybor. Thats basicly it. All it takes is patience and some basic know-how.

Just finished reading the thread. What a ****. I'm totally glad everything worked out as it did.

And thank you sir for your service to the country. If I ever join the military it will be in the Navy. I love ships.

Cheers mate!

Oh yes, yes we are =D.

Quick little fun fact here....my buddy Dain (the kid who owns the green box) just called me a few hours ago...he was a few towns over today...got pulled over for "excessive noise". He poped the back hatch for the cop (cop wanted to know what setup he had out of pure curiosity). Said the cop not only let him off for having a cool box and just plain being respectful to the cop; but that the cop also ASKED FOR MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER!!!....not to b**ch at me, or to write me any kind of tickets.... but to talk to me about doing some work making a custom setup for his wifes SUV for there anniversary :rotflmao :lolling: :lolling: :dblthumb:

I'm kinda late to the party but this was an awesome thread. Some guys may have found themselves doing time for landing in such ridiculous circumstances but you handled it like a man, gentleman and a pimp all in one. It's inspiring. Cheers.

Not dead, just in suspended animation.
Prepping to transfer out of CA, wrapping things up with the apartment complex, realizing my roommate skipped out on about half of this years rent (grrrr...bastard), packing everything up, setting up vet appointments and flights for the cats, etc.....
On top of 10-16 hour days, just no time or energy.
However, the house I'm hoping to buy has a heated, finished two car garage.
More to come....

Bangor, WA and the mighty Ohio Blue crew. Just a few blocks away from my folks, and my dad (who is still active duty, and going to be working in the same place I am for awhile...WEIRD). But at least my folks have stayed in one place for 20 some-odd years. Dad has a double deep 2 car garage, every tool known to man, and a burning desire to do something "man-like". It took almost 30 years, but we might finally be able to work a father-son project around our deployment schedules!
Oh, and the fact that I can serve my country from my hometown is FRAKKING AWESOME!
The other side of that coin is a sudden surge in the need for people with my skillset back in the mid east. Several of my old battalion have already been re-mobilized, so I'm anxiously waiting to see if I get tapped for that instead.
As long as I can buy my garage with attached house first, I'm all good.

Ironically, I can hear the raceway from my prospective back deck. House to backyard to greenbelt to track. I can look up at the stars and hear the distant roar of engines, close enough for a long walk or a short run, or an even shorter drive. Totally going to be there
Words cannot describe the awesomeness of this house.

Wow man, being a military man myself, definitely have me thinking twice about getting married or anything in the near future, I'll tell my gf she's gonna wait a few more years.

Good luck on the build too, can't wait to see how it comes together, and the black looks great for a Duplicolor job!

yea i'm in the marine corps and hear this all the time. it really is bulls*** that we deploy 7 months or more without the simple things in life (liberty, being around friends and family, relaxing, wearing civies) while the b**** wives can't wait for you to leave to go f*** someone else. you really are an inspiration to me. thanks man
p.s. i'm married lol. she hasn't done anything yet but I'm on my toes at all times :squint:

Ok, so it's been FOREVER since I've updated, but here's the current deal:

I am no longer in Sunny San Diego,
I am just outside Seattle, where the sunshine is of a more liquid variety.

I checked into my new command JUST in time to get underway, but I'm back now.

I am officially debt free. The last of the ex-wifes tens of thousands of dollars of burdens are gone.

Then I bought a house. 1/4 million negotiated down to 195. LOVE this economy!

More to the point, I bought a garage bigger than my last apartment that happened to COME with a house. A garage that already has benches, shelves, lockers, and welder electrical hookups.
It's all mine. Nobody can come along and say I can't do this or that in my own garage, on my own car, and my own tools. This is going to be epic.

I considered parallel parking in my garage, just because I could....

I am in the process of buying a little putt-putt Honda Del Sol to scoot around in while the Nissan is put in the garage, gutted and torn down to bare metal and components. Should be mine by the end of the weekend.

My dad (who is now local) has offered the use of all of his tools, as well as an extra pair of hands. I think he just wants to borrow my man-cave. But yay for air compressor and air tools!

That's all for now. I'll be posting pics and write-ups as the various components come out.
SO GOOD TO BE BACK!

PS-My parents were also kind enough to get me PROPER housewarming gifts. Namely a 3 ton floorjack, jack stands, crawler, and engine hoist.... bachelor toolkit 2.0

Welcome back! I re-read this thread last night. You have literally been through hell and back, I dont understand how you are not in jail and are still mentally sane.. You have an incredible attitude, I am so glad that you came out on top and stayed positive through all this. I hope your ex continues to get what she deserves!

The 240 is looking great! Good Luck with her, keep up the good work! I cannot wait to see the final product!

I have my little putt putt Honda. 1995 Del Sol SI, 140k miles, everything works just fine, a few minor cosmetic issues, nothing major. $2k, $1k under budget for the scoot-about, meaning I have a buffer for when something breaks on this.

Yes, I know I need to mow my grass.

As soon as I have new plates (in my name) and military tags on the windshield, the Nissan can be pulled into the garage. Tools are on standby....

It has begun.

No, really, for reals this time.
