Avoiding the flaming, I'll just say that the SR and KA are completely different engines, not within the same family (obviously, given there different designations). What makes you think you would want an SR head on a KA block anyway?

i just typed that up to fast, sorry. WAt i meant was we dont have the same option as someone with a honda and why you would want to do that is the same reason why someone with a honda would. Of course an sr would neva fit on a ka. Really i dont know of ne engine that would be a suitable donor, excuse me for having used the sr as an example : (

2Fast - 2Uneducated

Mangling the English language is not appropriate, no matter what the French say.

You can sort of, you have to do like what honda does, stay in the same engine family. Like how people make the RB30DE. THat's really the only one I know of people messing with. There's probably been people doing sr20ve heads onto sr20de's though. It's just a matter of whether it's cheaper to get the head and do all the work to put it on or just get the entire engine and swap them.

Dont honda guys swap heads so that they can get VTEC on an engine that doesnt originally have it? Nissans version of VTEC, VVT is only available on some of the newer SRs... and it seems like unlike a lot of the honda guys, people here arent as impressed with the gains you get from variable valve timing. Honestly it just doesnt make sense when you can do a million other things for half the cost with double the power gains....

Short version: no you cant do it, nor should you want to

WELCOME TO NISSAN!

Pretty much every nissan engine I've seen has a redline under 7000. I'm sure there's ones above it though, but still compare that to hondas. Hondas switch vtec at 6000 or a litle before. so they can rev up into the 8000-9000 rpms efficiently. That's why it's worth it to put vtec on their cars, it'll give them another 2000 rpms of powerband without destroying their lowend at all.
