Not a funny issue.PITA to swap. Was for me due to I could only work 2hrs at a time. What happened? Over-rev, no oil change, somethign locked up, or rod just felt like going somewhere else?

All of the oil passages of the block, head, crankshaft etc.. plug up with debris from the chain guides of the ka24e. This is the #1 cause of thrown rod in this engine.

Another issue is that the problem will repeat itself using a crankshaft that has had this debris but not properly and thoroughly cleaned. To do this requires custom, or oem type oil passage plug replacements. Custom plugs (such as allen head) should be used. This crank can be cleaned with ease and their is no chance of the plugs ever falling out. This is common practice with subaru engines as well, it should be on any aspiring performance ka24's to-do list.

Don’t know what did it, I got the car for 400$, had the blown ka in it. It was sitting in a field 30 min from my house .Went to the owners house knocked on the door and offered him 400 to take it off his hands, he was more than happy.

I was so astonished when I saw it just sitting there. I was thinking that it must have cancer really bad being that it is in a field. But one day I decided to hop the fence and take a look at the car. To my disbelief the doors where unlocked. Popped the hood look the over the car from bolt to bolt. No rust at all except under the battery but that’s just surface rust, and is expected. It has a h.u.d! But it is an auto.(I was getting really nervous once I saw how good of condition the car was in .Did not want to have to pull bird shot out of my arse lol!)It was the Best Deal Ever!... I had been looking for a 240sx, since the day I sold my 92 hatch. Biggest mistake ever, in my mind, had 88k on it, manual and it was charcoal grey .What was I thinking lol! Well at least I have one now. And boy do I have big plans for her!

I also have a question for you guys, should I paint her, or keep it white? Need to decide since I have the engine out.
