The question is why did the 1994 Q cost $50,000 which would be $82,000 in todays dollars? If you purchase new parts to build a Q with dealer markups they would run way over $100,000 today. Every year they sit in inventory the dealer must raise their retail prices at least 8-10% to cover inventory holding cost and wasted [unprofitable] space..............same thing for manufacturers and regional warehouses.
For years I have been recommending that owners purchase and store a few wrecks of the same year and color if they plan on keeping an old Q for years.
Paying $500 for wrecks looks cheap when you need a few parts.
My BS in Finance taught me this in 1977 and my 1996 MBA reinforced what I forgot..........................a personal junk yard can be just like a bank.
