I thought everyone loved Obama? Maybe he simply does not think Britain is capable of protecting him? What is this gonna cost the tax payer?

After spitting on the shoes of the Brits I don't blame him for taking so much security but I resent paying for it.

That's OK, Mrs. President is going to her own summit. Wonder how much security that entails.....

WGAF?

I read that article and all i think is BAD @$$. Im willing to bet my savings that that 300,000 dollar car of his cost more in the neighborhood of 2-5 million.

Hes POTUS during multiple crises, and wars. Gimi a break.

Are you (x) (y)? Do you know how many people would be devastated if we had a POTUS assassinated? The kind of victory that would be for the Jihad movement?

Outrage is conditional at such a prospect. They made movies about Bush being assassinated.

I'm not saying he should go alone but I think that's a bit much security.
themadscientist wrote:Outrage is conditional at such a prospect. They made movies about Bush being assassinated.
Can you imagine the outrage if one such movie was made about the ObaMesiah being lynched? More hypocrisy from the left.

That much security isn't necessary. Bush never had that kind of security why should Barry? After all, everyone likes Barry and nobody liked Bush.

Now, if he was going to visit Iran I might have a different opinion but he is going to friendly territory.

TMS, you first, have me mistaken for a lib.

Second, i defended that statement in the same post.

Third, i guess the 'righties' can just make childish quibs and toss out labels instead of reading.

Lastly, or we can stop labeling people and actually have discussions that go in a direction other than archaic party lines that shouldnt exist anymore. Get with the program or gtfo.

Havnt we gotten past that recently anyway? Wasnt there a discussion we had like.. A month ago about this exact same thing? Seriously, enough is enough. Memory loss and failure to adapt to change is a sign of old age, you might wana get yourself checked out.

AUD - Because this is a stupid thread. Your actually trying to say that there is such thing as to much security for the number one target for every terrorlst in the world? That because security costs money, we should downgrade the protection of our POTUS to a level thats economical instead of ideal? Economical and protection of a POTUS in the same sentence? What? Stupid.

If it's a stupid thread then why post?

If Obama is so loved then why so much security when he is going to be in a friendly country that will also be providing security? Just seems like overkill and a slap in their face.

Because i feel the need to contribute? This is the politics forum in Nico, there arnt that many opportunities to post. I seize them when i get them.

Your first statements implied argument ignores the reality of terrorism.

Again, overkill and protecting the potus dont really go together well in the same sentence. I think the Brits can understand the need for security and im pretty sure they arnt going to take any offense to us bringing in the mother load of protection. They might laugh at us behind our backs, or whatever, but for real, this is our POTUS were talking about.

How many attacks have the Brits had since 9-11? Several. How many have we had? They can take it as an offense all they want. I still want my countries leader to come home alive regardless of who he is, and frankly could care less who gets their panties in a bunch about it. Are the brits going to throw a fit and not be our allies anymore or something? Seriously, whats your legitimate worst case scenario for this so called 'insult'?

Consider this. We are also sending a message to the world with this action and this over the top show of force, as we are known to do. Is it the right message? Well frankly, in this instance, idk.

I wish we could get away from labels but you know it will never happen. Don't you find it strange, as I do, that a person can be accused of both extremes of thought one right after the other? I don't think anyone except the most militant politicians, George Sorros and Jerry Fallwell fall under the tenants of hard left or right.

I share your distaste for that sort of thinkin and if I call someone a name it almost always tounge in cheek. The middle doesn't really have a voice in America, I hope for and would cheer the implosion of the two major parties.

typical bible-thumpin intolerant hate-speech-spewing conservative response.

Hey, this is easy!

Maybe all the thoughtful people hanging out just to the left and right of center are just trying to hard. Dogmatic fundamentalist character assassination is sooo much easier.

This thread is misguided.

Some of the best-loved Presidents tend to be the ones who get assassinated.

LincolnJFK

He's a controversial figure and he's a more likely assassination target than any other President for the past few decades. He's going to get higher-than-normal security and it's justified. He got Secret Service protection early in the campaign process, people griped about that too, and those people were wrong.

Get used to it.

LOL

I'm just saying, Obama hits all the bullet points that would make him a very likely assassination candidate. They aren't going to take any chances.

You're getting reamed in all sorts of other ways that are more profound and offensive than a few decoy helicopters for POTUS.

I'm not arguing that point. Just saw the Politics forum was slow and thought I'd sling some threads to complain...errr....discuss

If anyone thought I don't want our POTUS protected then they are wrong. Regardless of how I dislike his policy and direction at this point I sure don't want anything happening to him.

Anyone got some KY? My bum is throbbin

Okay, I've done some thinking and I've decided that I'm in favor of all the security.

The very thought of Biden becoming president has made me change my mind very fast.

At what cost though. He did put our country on lock down, hard. Thing is, we have no idea how many terrorlst threats were stopped, and for good reason. Iron curtain for terrorists.
