Could someone tell me what 6 WHP is from the engine. Is it 15 horse power, more or less. Thank you

RWD cars usually has a 15% drivetrain loss. So 6 WPH is 6.9 Crank HP.

Welcome to NICO!

I'm not trying to be rude, but what does it matter? To goal with mods is to produce useable power, not to figure out how much you make at the crank.

6whp is a much better figure than 7hp.

You fail at math

With a 15% loss, 6 WHP would be 7.1 BHP. But regardless, I agree with sentient, that the point is moot anyway. Crank HP doesn't mean anything, because it's the power that reaches the ground that makes the difference. Also, 15% is just a speculation. If it's 20%, that would be 7.5 HP, and it were 10%, that would be 6.7 HP. But unless you pull the motor out and dyno it on an engine dyno, you won't know what the true drivetrain loss is.

I was thinking the loss was about 10% from crank to wheel. I was looking at some dyno results recently that showed an 08 g35 sedan (bone stock) the 6mt putting down about 286 and the 5MT putting down about 281. I've have to look that one up again...maybe they were talking about the G37.

Well, I was wrong. the numbers I mentioned above were for a G37. So the 15% loss is pretty darn accurate.

HAHA! What calculator did you use? The scientific cal. on my Iphone only shows .9 as the 15% increase. I tryed it w/ 2 diff. calculators too. Same result on both. WTF am I doing wrong. BTW I suck at math.

I forget where I read 15%. But for some reason that number sticks in my head.

And you have to be carefull about what chassic dyno you use. Mustang's are natorious for giving low power numbers. DynoJet are more accurate.

You are calculating by taking 15% of 6 and adding it back. You need to be calculating by asking 85% of what equals 6. So you need to be taking 6 divided by .85.

MMM. Yea I was adding 15% to 6. Which equals .9. 6.9 or 7.05 is splitting hairs.

I wondered about that. I've only had my G for about 1 month and I'm not familiar with past transmission options.
