There are a few guys that run the auto with good results. The auto has to be in decent shape, not a high mileage unit with worn clutches. Then you'll need a big transmission cooler and run really good fluid, Royal Purple was what I always used in my auto's.

I laughed when you mentioned stall. Sadly no one makes a stall converter for the 240

You could take a stock unit and send it to Precision Industries and they will rebuild it and set the stall where ever you want for around 400 bucks though.Dunno how that will work exactly since the trans is ECU controlled, auto transmission knowledge is definitely my weak link.

I'd bet the auto will handle 350 as long as the fluid is changed and the heat is controlled. With a nice 2500 stall you could easily rip 1.6 60" times I'd be running the auto right now if I didn't already have a bunch of money in my Flywheel/Clutch assembly.

Yes they do make a stall for the 240. IPT and Level 10 both makes custom stalls. Also various companies in Australia do stalls too. It would be stupid to run a Auto with a big turbo and not have the proper stall. I know Ivan ran a Built 300zx TT Auto transmission which is a little bigger than ours but i havnt been able to get a hold of him to figure out who did his convertor.

I didn't know they made them for the 240. Do you have to send yours in or do they have them in stock?

Pretty sure you have to send them yours. They can also upgrade the valvebody and they make a performance rebuild kit. I have a spare trans I'm gonna take apart to see how hard it is to do a auto trans. I'd rather not pay them to do the transmission cause they charge like 3k for a built trans.

Well I know the AT has a different trans control unit that is seperate from the ECU. It also requires the AT TPS that has the extra plug for the TCU. I'm not sure how the ECI itself will differ because the TCU control the AT not the ECU. Again, I'm not that up to speed here. I'm just going with what I "think" is the way it works...lol.

I was using an auto trans with my ka-t for a couple of months and it ran perfectly fine. I had a oil cooler and used redline fluids. But I'm really glad I did a 5 speed swap though. Having a manual is SOOO much fun
