Yeah, just the Bridgestone duelers. . they do okay, but not when the vehicle is sitting on the axles.
Got stuck around 6:30 PM Wed. down by the river. Tried that evening to free it with pieces of wood, jacking it up / placing stuff under the tires (was able to lift it one inch). Shoveled the hell out of everything, to no avail. Meanwhile, the forecast is rain for the next 5 days -- the river was already rising, and the floodgates were opened at the dam upstream.
Fast forward to yesterday -- I was down there working to free it, and I looked up and saw a guy in a Silverado heading down -- he stopped, so I worked my way over to him. He assessed the situation, and thought maybe he could tow me out. We tried that, but all he did was spin, and my truck would not move at all. The guy is pretty much Jesus, and as such, he said we should just head down and rent a Bobcat. So we rented a Bobcat for a few hours, and brought it back down. As we were working on it, we hear "Sheriff's Department!!! Stop what you're doing and come over here immediately!" *whoops*I should mention this is a county park, but it's ugly -- real ugly, just mud and crap and constantly floods over. He was displeased that we hadn't contacted the parks department to ask permission, and said we now have to wait for the guy to get there. I explained that this is my last hope, and last attempt at getting it freed, and he indicated he didn't care. The parks guy shows up about 2 minutes later, and I explained it to him -- nice guy fortunately, and he said to just put it all back when we were finished. We ended up digging out around the vehicle, and creating a bit of a road, then tugged it out with a tow strap wrapped around the bucket of the Bobcat while I was backing out.
I had a lot of fun driving it out of there. . wish I had video of that.
I said I'd have pics, but I have failed -- pics were the last thing on my mind as I was working to free it. I had to wash it off a bit too, as it was like riding a jack hammer at any speed over 35 (lots of mud caked in the wheels). I can provide pics of the area though.
as we stand now, the river is at 10 foot above flood stage, and will hit 18 soon. Parts of the road to access this area are now closed. I was ready to just write it off.
