Before i even start this topic i would like to stat that yes i did screw up and i am an idiot... So you dont have to tell me. I left my 240 outback that i am working on, theres no hood, coil pack cover, coil pack, or plugs in. So you know what that leaves open, the spark plug well. I came back a few days later to work on the car and i look in one of the wells and theres some crap in there, it looks like part of a paper towel and some electric tape and maybe even a stick??????!?!?!?! I kinda tried vacumming it, i dont think that will work i know this is ridicolous but give me some ideas on how to get that crap out. I was thinking of sparying WD40 or something in there and starting a fire to burn itJust give me ideas how to get it out and tell me how dumb i am..

Try removing the valve cover & see if you can access those things any easier. Hopefully that will do it... otherwise you're gonna have to remove the head if there's serious trash in there. .

well the holes would be fairly small for crap to fall between the head and the block, where I'd worry is about the large gap where the chain would be. You may have to drop the oil pan.

As soon as you remove the head. Yes, you have to replace the HG & bolts. They're like condoms, one time use only, whether you use it for 5 hours or 5 minutes.

everytime the block and head are seperated, and will be put back together, they both need to be checked for squareness. in our case, iron isnt easy to warp, but aluminum is very prone to if it has ever overheated. you can do this yourself or you can have a machine shop do it, but take a verrry very flat and long object, and check your head. this is how its done per s13(91-94)fsm:

if its out of spec, youll need to get a machine shop to mill it flat.
