I am posting this up for a good friend of mine from Club S12 who makes tons of custom quality parts for us over there. He is looking to expand to the S13 world and would like to find out if there would be any interest in aluminum fly wheels for the ca18det. Also, if there are other custom parts that you guys would be interested in, post up ideas here.

He makes top notch stuff........here is the top mount ca-det header/ downpipe he made for me a while back.......

Custom Big brake kit, with his custom coil overs....

His name is Bart.........i'll let him introduce himself.

Hey guys im here to gauge interest for aluminum flywheels for the ca18det, that im considering doing production runs on. I run a small fab and machine shop and recently acquired a cnc and will be making flywheels for various engine beginning with the ca18et since i own a s12 and am co-owner of http://www.club-s12.org. I know jun makes some but they are spendy and the sr20det options requires a different starter and some grinding.. The ones i will make will be bolt in and have replaceable friction rings. Price wise they will more then likely be $375-$425 but may be cheaper if 5or more people do a group buy. time wise i'm guessing about 3 weeks until we will have the cnc up and fully running ready for orders.. so if this is something you guys would like me to pursue let me now... here's a picture of a flywheel we made on our bridgeport a while back for a volvo p1800 manual conversion. Heck if there is any other parts you guys would want to get made at a cheaper price then they are avaiable throw the ideas out..

Chromoly would be better. Having had a Toda wheel on my CA I can confirm the difference between stock and lightweight is stark and worth the money.

If I didn't have a JUN flywheel on the motor already, I'd be down for this.

Let's help the club S12 guys out. They're a great bunch!

Those with the cash already have a Jun, Toda or O.S. and those without the cash are just dreaming.

I want a bellhousing to adapt an RB25 transmission to the CA.

hey guys this is bart.. anyways i see that their might not be too much interest in the flywheel.. so what other stuff could you guys use... with the cnc we got we can pretty much make anything new or copy existing stuff at a much lower price.. like control arms pulleys, bushings, dash inserts...etc.. etc.. just throw out any ideas you can have

Theres just a few good options available now that make a $500+ custom job seem high.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories

...that for one.

Also the fact that you can get a nice used OS Giken or Ogura/Blitz SR20 multiplate clutch that bolts right up for less than $500.....

Anyhow....

would be cool to have a decent looking acc pulley set.

I think the main thing people have been dying for and never gotten is the coilpack cover with vents. hell just a straight piece of aluminum with holes in it at this point would be awesome, but vents and maybe etched DET or DOHC or w/e would be real sweet.

the next best option is a pricey HKS Unit without vents.... little pricy for something that is more vanity than anything(as it actually holds heat in w/o vents)........ cant find any forsale right this second but I remember them being like 250 or 300 bucks IIRC.

Bart and I were actually talking about coil pack covers last week......so i'm thinking that one will happen. I'll let him chime in on prices and such....but I already told him I want one

If you could do "1.8L DOHC TURBO" (or whatver) lettering evgraved via CNC machine (so we can color in the lettering) ...engraved IN NISSAN'S FONT....that would be killer. Dont use some whack font or it will look ricey. Theres a guy on Ebay UK that has ones that say "200sx" and they look goofy because the font is wrong.

Anyhow....thumbs up for your efforts!!

ya coil pack covers would be something i would look into... can anyone get me pics of the hks units or others you've seen... i could also write out

nissan silvia or just silvia...

if i did produce these would there be at least 3-5 people who would buy them... price wise id estimate it at about 125-175 range.. i'll measure my cover off the ca18det and get a better price idea....

also i am going to be making solid copper head gaskets for the ca18et so if anyone would be interested in a ca18det variation let me know

Yeah, how much on the HG? I'm in the market, as it were. Not sure if I want to take a chance and re-use my nismo, as its been re-used a few times now.

On second thought, just email me and we can do business directly. Its in my profile.

cant remember if those ebay "stg 1" lightweight flywheel/clutch combo offered for the CA18 as it is for the 4AG, but it'll be hard to compete with that package deal.

from close observation, it looks pretty ez to make an inexpensive adjustable cam gear for the CA18. A disc with holes, bolted to a modified stock gear."Should be" a low cost, efficient excercise, done on exchange/core basis.I reckon u could get fancy by making the 'disc' bigger and throwing in a few holes for decoration, somethin' like this 4AG gear; Nobody in the u.s. stepped up yet I don't think.

I copied "Cortina MKI" motor 'look', by attaching an aluminium plate to the middle of the stock plastic plug valley cover. I suppose you could go crazy with the lettering and raise the center for ventillation... since u got the equipment.I'm moving my coils out of there and running plug wires, so heat ain't no issue for some of us

what brake rotor is that shown ? what diameter & thinkness ? what caliper ?our RWD corolla front hub similarly has the brake disc bolted to the rear of the hub just as shown. Looks like u machined some adapter plate ?

ive said this before and ill say it again, Ive seen it happen a few times and its not pretty, aluminum can fly apart if the slightest thing goes wrong. And it will go right through your bellhousing, trans tunnel and eventually YOUR ANKLES.

i suggest HIGHLY chromoly to be the way to go. Lightweight is definitely nice, but i would never use aluminum after the few floorboards ive seen.

For the same reason, I would never buy an aluminum flywheel. I don't call them FAILdanza for nothing! Seriously aluminum sucks at dealing with heat, especially the kind my metal clutch dishes out. I mean, it rapes my stock flywheel pretty hard, so an aluminum one would just grenade.

How about that copper HG? I'm dead serious, I'll pay you right now.

ya i was actually just looking at my spare cam gears.... ya i would add some pockets to add flare to the cam gears..... i could make completely new gears but not until we get a rotatory table to run as our 4th axis...

the rotors are 11.75 by .810 thick i made this kit to fit inside the s12's stock rim but i have options to use a 12.19 rotor as well,, i can get 1.25" thick ones as well and even cross drilled in both sizes...the caiper pictured is a toyota caliper i used in this kit as a entry level kit that way more affordable then using a wilwood 4 pot... and yes i machined the rotor hat and caliper bracket on a bridgeport

Being that these are going to be metal, I think some raised heatsink ridges (similar to OEM's ridges) would be nice...and functional.

I'd take a whole set of bushings for the front of my s13 if you could handle it, and provided it wouldn't cost me $500,000.

BTW I'm not having much luck getting people on board the head gasket wagon, but I'll take one regardless. Just let me know when you are going to fire up the mill and I'll pay you. I'm not in much of a hurry as I still need to source some new pistons and have a bunch of machine work done.
