It is most definitely better to warm your car up in the morning, or at least take it easy until the car is fully warmed up.
As you probably know, the viscosity of oil decreases when the temperature rises. When a car sits over night, the oil settles wherever it can, and the viscosity rises, because the oil is cold. When you first start your car, the internals are not all properly lubricated right away, and due to the thicker oil, it takes it a while for them to get lubricated.
Keeping your car under 2k rpms is a very wise choice during warm-up because anything more will cause excessive wear to the internals of your engine, as they are not properly lubricated. When the engine reaches it's proper operating temperature and the oil is heated up, it's much thinner and can now do it's job properly.
I allow my engine at least 30 seconds before moving, and like i mentioned above, i don't get it above 2k (I actually try keeping it <1500) until it reaches operating temperature.
