Awesome! Gobs and Gobs of torque. One problem though. How do you get it to move without lighting up the tires? . Let clutch out = instant spin.

I think that big block takes up too much space. Should have used a RB26TT with beefed up internals being fed 28+ PSI

They actually classify it as a small block, but I guess if it's a proto-type, they can call it anything they want. They said a BB wouldn't fit with the twins, IC/exchange boxes in the wheel wells/fenders with the rad's on either side of the standard rad.

I saw it last night, that car was sick. Once I saw they were putting the turbos on, I couldn't believe it. It's cool and unique. Jay Leno has a lot of awesome cars.

Leno = Car god, lol. That guy is freaking awesome when it comes to cars. I heard he hangs out at some bookstore in Burbank at times. I'd so like to meet him.

I like it. At least he has good taste.

I can imagine leno crusin down a street when a turbo civic all riced out. Or ANY car that thinks they have a chance against this hoss.

Leno would prlly give a head start and still beat them.

It would of been cooler if he did it himself but that still bad ***

Dude, you have been a little "nasty/Rude" lately. Are you looking to be sent on a vacation from Nico?

That's your opinion, and everybody is intitled to their own opinion. Could you be a little more sensible in how you say it though. You could have said, "I don't like the way that car looks. If I had that much money, I would have done something better."

Actually, I only asked "Who saw Rides", but by default forums do ask for your opinion.

The purpose of the thread was the car, not Leno, and tastes aside (I can think of several mid 60's body styles I would have chosen instead), the motor and how the car was put together is still impressive.

He built that specific car b/c it was one he fell in love with at a new car show in 1965 when he was a kid and first became interested in cars.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I think we're aware of yours .

(On a side note, what happened to your M30?)

this is Jay Leno though...the same man that owns one of two Taurus SHO power Festivas...

drives a Stanley Steamer down the road...rides around with Tom Cruise in his vintage fire truck...

if I had the money too, I'd pay people to do insane things to my stupid, obscure cars....

I'd have the best LeCar ever!

I only caught the last 15 mins of the show, I thought it was RWD???it showed him smoking the tires and the rear end was sliding out.

anyway my point was that 1) I really didnt like the car.2) I hate how celeberities write a big check and then every one talks about "the car leno built." Its his car, because he paid for it. Not because he built it. He paid someone else to do that.

Rex- my Infiniti was totaled by a ford expedition.

Poorman- I am generally a rude person, but I think that does not preclude me from expressing my (relatively innocent) opinion on a matter posted on the boards. I might have made a few posts that you consider "nasty" recently but my strong feelings on the subject matter of those few (very few) subjects deserved a strong response. I think very few times, if ever, on nico, have I ever made a personal attack on a member of the board. I am blunt and I put my opinion out there. If you can't handle that, thats really not my problem. I'm not sure youre the one to threaten me with the banstick, as you are not a moderator.

I did not say I don't like the way that car looks, because thats redundant. If I say "that car looks bad" its my OPINION so every one knows that I don't like it. Its a little bit stronger language than your suggestion, but the car is strongly ugly and pointless. As for "if I had that much money, I would have done something better," I don't know about that. Because he didn't do anything but write the check. I'm not sure I could write a check any better than he could. I think if I had his money I'd prolly just quit whatever I was doing and work on cars full time. Maybe start a shop up, get some racing team going. I could probably have done either for the price of that car alone.

I thought it was pretty nice, I wasnt so shure about the water to air intercooler though I thought a nice big air to air would have been better with all the room up front and with all that water in the fenders thats gota be some serious weight.

yeah leno knows his stuff. I'm sure he'd be a great guy to talk cars with. But I still hold a grudge for the time he dropped bowling balls on air from the top of the building onto the intern's s13...wtf???

Anyone who knows how to operate, maintain and drive a Stanley Steamer is a car stud in my book.

Yeah....

I saw an episode of the Tonight Show where he took his steamer out for a drive around town.

That steamer could rock most cars on this forum. I don't recall the HP or torque numbers... but it put down low 12's in the 1/4!!!!! WITH A STEAM POWERED ENGINE!!!!!!!!!! WITH WOODEN SPOKE WHEELS!!!!!

The car is absolute insanity...

Hey man that was David Letterman not Jay Leno. I think leno would have more respect than that for any car. He does own a Festiva, granted a really fast festiva, but still a Festiva.

First of all, that car is sweet, and so is every other car in Leno's stable.

Second of all, Leno is indeed one of the biggest car enthusiasts there are. Just because *HE* is not the person that built all of them doesn't make him some rich prick that just likes to spend money. If he was that, he wouldn't know what kind of cars to buy, and clearly he does. He owns a freakin McLaren F1 for goodness sake.

Think about this, I'm sure Leno works approx 6-9 hours a day, just like your average american. How many people out there that work 40 hours a week have time to build a new custom car every other freakin weak? Regardless of your money. You don't have the freakin time. It's not like Leno is incompetent when it comes to turning a wrench...hell...didn't he use to be a mechanic or something before he hit it big? I swear I saw that on TV or something. Also, if he were to quit his job, he wouldn't be bringing in the money any more. Now I realize he probably has millions and millions saved, but it wouldn't be flowing in like it is now. I could put money down on what he'll do after he retires (2009 so he says). I'll bet it will have something to do with building or working on cars.

Anyway, not every car enthusiasts passion is in design or power. Some people like nastalgia, elegance, and rarity, and those people are just as much car enthusiasts as the rest of us, if not more. I garuntee any one of us would be there if we had the money. And I'm sure he's into performance just as much as us with the above mentioned car and a damn McLaren F1 parked next to it in the garage.

I hope he does a car show when he's done with the Tonight Show...that'd be awesome...

hell, just a show called Leno's Garage...it could showcase the cars he has and when they've shown them all it'll be time to go get new cars!

The difference merely lies in what type of car enthusiast you are. Some people like muscle, we like our imports, and as mentioned above, some are into the rare and exotic. Some like to get underneath the hood and try to make more of what they have, some like (and have the ability) to shell out wads of cash for what they want. Its still all the same. Its a car. People that love cars will find something they like about most any car. Now if only we could convince Leno to twin turbo a Titan V8 and have that put into maybe... oh I dunno... a 240Z? Or maybe even an older muscle car... like 57' Chevy or something ridiculous like that.
