Who's in the military?

I was reading another thread and was wondering how many people on here are in or going into the military. I am going into the Navy and I leave in September. Anyone on here going to Great Lakes around that time? I was also wondering how life in the military is, like do you have money to make your 240 awesome or are you poor as hell?

Well, all the guys I know in the Navy have a ton of money saved up for they're cars....cause they are never home to spend it. Best of luck to ya bro...I'm USAF.

whew have fun up in GL in winter...

my dad was stationed there as the seamen ship traing prog. (A school) he was the director of the signal man and 2 other prog. i forget which. look for something with Lt. Baker... see if my pops left an impression...

If you get deployed alot or get overseas pay you will make more money. Then while your on ship you don't have many oppotunities to spend money. It's like a forced savings plan. A friend of mine came back stateside and bought a Vette cash.

I got a bonus for enlisting then a bonus for my MOS (5k total) The pay sucks though...unless your married, then the pay really sucks

Edit: I got all my toys from being able to save money. Paid cash for everything...I hate debt

Para Rescue pay aint bad, you get jump pay, dive pay and hazardous duty pay every month, not to mention the $50,000 bonus for signing up.

My job is ***. The money is decent. My wife is in too. I still take out loans for ym 240...because I am impatient. I would rather have it now than save and wait

Haha...i got 3 more yrs den imma make a decision if imma stay. Job security is nice and knowing when and how much your gettin paid is nice. I figured if i stay and re-sign for another 4 yrs...imma be putting in a total of 10 yrs. 10 yrs is half way tru military retirement so more than likely ill stay in till den. Get out after 20 in and get another job and have my retirement pay to pay for a house mortgage. :ylsuper
