I'm about <this> close to buying an S14 SR20DET motorset from these guys and I've heard some pretty good feedback about them overall. They sound very nice and knowledgable on the phone, but you all know the best proof comes from all of you who already have your motor and can share your experience.

I know there is a 'where to buy' thread with a number of comments about them, but I'm looking for photos of your rides or the motorsets you have got from JDM-Online. Tell me how you liked your buying experience and if the motorsets have been holding up over more time and miles. Tell me if you kept it stock, or what you have done to them, etc...all that good stuff!

To everyone who replies, thanks in advance for your time and helping me make this decision!

Matt.

I don't know anyone who has bought a motor set from jdm-online but I see that you are in atlanta. If you don't mind driving for 2 -2 1/5 hours jhotimports is located in augusta. I bought my motor from them and Just about everyone around here bought thier sr and other motors from jhot. i believe they are a nico sponsor now. Locally I haven't heard of any problems from their motors but there is always a chance with any company that sells used motors that you could find a bad one. they are pretty easy to find. jhotimports.com is the website i believe.

I just got a s13 blacktop from JDM-Online and I would say that their service is decent, definitely not good. Nesar (the guy who you are probably dealing with) didn't bother to wash the motor, took forever to get the damn thing shipped and when I called the shipping company about setting up delivery to my house, they said that I had to pay the shipping charges. I had to get back in touch with him so that he could get that straightened out with the shipping company which added on another 1/2 a week.

I don't know if they advertise on here a discount for Nico members but they do on Z ilvia. That ended up saving me $250 bucks. I paid $2300 for the motor and shipping.

If you have any other questions that you want to ask, shoot me an email ([email protected]) or hit me up on AIM (iiEddieGii). I had a hard time finding out any info about jdm-online and it was nerve racking so I'm glad to help you out if I can.

I got to jump in here to make a point on iiEddieGii's feedback on our Company. I agree shipping took a little longer than expected and you got your motor within 8 business days from the date you placed your order. Normally transit time to your location is about 4-5 business days. I don't think it was as bad as you have made it sound in your post. The reason we couldn't wash your engine is not because I felt lazy or I didn't bother. The reason was explained in my email i sent you while your motor was in transit that we had ran out of engine shampoo and weren't able to wash your motor in time for pickup. I mean honestly how hard is it to wash an engine?? It is a matter of 5mins for us. Btw, I included the downpipe for free with your swap, i don't think you have mentioned anything about that!

Here is some pictures of his order:

Looks pretty good to me - I don't think you can go wrong with Nesar or JHOT, they're both accountable to us when all is said and done.

Nesar, check your email!

You are right, I didn't mentioned about the downpipe. It wasn't something I was going to use, but yes I got one with it. I have been out of town so I haven't had a chance to really look the motor over but before I left I did notice that the turbo intake had oil residue all inside. The front seal is done and the turbo will have to be rebuilt. I'll let you guys know what else I find. Nesar acts as though I'm trying to bad mouth his company and that's not the case, I'm just stating my experience with JDM-Online. Like I said in the original post, service was decent.

Thanks for the info, feedback and pic's.

I have decided to do my swap down here (in ATL) because the weather is still too bad to go up to Toronto (I was planning to go up there yesterday for a couple of weeks but there is still snow in PA, NY and TO).

I hesitate to buy something I have not seen in person, especially if I am paying top dollar for it. I'm going to check out JHot and Jarco before I make a decision. TorontoJDM offered me an S14 motorset for $1950 USD plus shipping, and $2700 for a full Kouki clip (granted the mileage was a little high @ 150k km).

The problem seems to be that there are so many options are out but most of it is either crap or overpriced.

Thanks again to all of you for helping me out...I'll keep checking for any other feedback so keep the comments coming!!!

Not trying to make you out to be the bad guy but when i read your post it did kinda sound like you were bashing them. Like saying it took for ever to get the thing shipped....8days is for ever wow it takes most people a few weeks to get their motor. Yea it would have been nice if your motor was clean, but who the hell cares as along as it runs.

So all in all i'll say that you had a better than average import motor buying expierence. Hell dude it took 4 weeks to get my motor and the ******* on the other end sent me 3 blown t25's before i said screw it and got my own turbo. It wasnt OMFG JDM ONLINE was sooooo cool they even put the motor in my car w/ an import model in the passagner seat... You got a solid "dirty" motor you should be happy look through the horror stories around here from other sellers.

If someone says they are going to do something then I expect them to do it, that's all. Like I said, their service is decent.
