I think you need only replace the S13 cover onto the J30 housing. Also, make sure the J30 has the proper 6 bolt output shafts to mate up to your stock axles.Swapping out the ring and pinion from your diff is going to require one hell of an air gun as the pinion nut is tightened down to damn near 200 ft. lbs. of torque. Just something to keep in mind.

I have a hybrid rear. Q45 housing (r200V) input of the case was cut off (no speed sensor). Z32 Turbo input pinion, R200 S13 welded open end internals, 3.69 R200V Q45 ring gear with 6 bolt axles,

But yeah what you are trying to do is possible, but you need to swap the 240 ringgear and input pinion (I think they are different teeth count) I may be wrong they may both be the same now that I think about it. Just pull the guts and count the teeth on the pinion. If they are the same stuff the VLSD into the R200 and use the proper shims.

so from what I gather I can just simply use my stock ring and pinion and just drop in the vlsd with the j30 vlsd output shafts... correct me if I'm wrong:) and I talked to a tech that has done alot of work on rear ends and he says to use my s13 shims with the vlsd..?

if you use the viscous diff; bolt it to the ring gear that comes out of the 240's rear end you dont have to change the pinion gear.

this has been covered about 100 times

it really is that simple

I fogot if you take off the cover only there is a stamped number on the ring gear. It would say like 13:45 or 12:47. The first number is the tooth count of the pinion. If they are the same you can swap the ringgear no problem. They are both 200mm
