Does any one know if this is ture? Also which Skyline subframe?WDRacing wrote:Well if the LSx is going into a drift car, some solid motor mounts should be really straight forward. Also, see if you can get a Skyline subframe. It won't have to be cut and it allows for shorty headers to work. That just leaves the clutch issue and tranny support. I'd just make custom lines for the clutch.

Nice ideaMrPresidentQ45 wrote:One other option that is quite a bit more cost effective would be using an LQx truck motor. These can be had in the $3500 range including harness and trans. The LQ9 is rated at 345hp, 10.0:1 compression. The downside is the iron block adds about 80lbs to the overall package, but with the money you save over an LSx, you can get some L92 truck heads and intake (off the new 6.2L motor) add a GMPP Hot cam and after a tune the package should make appx. 490hp. At the wheels. This is based on a similar swap into a 2004 GTO in which the owner blew up the LS1 and used the truck parts to replace. And it should still be emissions compliant in a referee'd swap for all you CA residents.

wouldn't this mount raddle your car to pieces ?WDRacing wrote:Yes...more!!!
Why don't you think a FAST manifold will fit? Should be almost identical to an LS1/LS6 manifold.Kamin wrote:

i paid 3500$ shipped for a LS1, T56, harness, ecu, etc.
the LQx swap is going to cost the same out of pocket as a LSx but you dont get the advantage of saving weight.
and i dont think the new truck intake will fit under a 240 hood. a fast manifold wont even fit IIRC.
true, the LS1 isn't all that expensive, but you do pay more for the '01+ models that have several marked improvements over earlier models of the same engine.Kamin wrote:money you save over a lsx?

the truck intake won't even come close unless you've got a huge cowl induction or something in your hood.Kamin wrote:and i dont think the new truck intake will fit under a 240 hood. a fast manifold wont even fit IIRC.
the ls1 doesn't rattle. that is, not on the stock cam, but anything with a big cam is going to rattle, no matter what engine mounts. i have solid mounts and the car is VERY smooth (with stock cam) at idle. i would say it's at least as smooth/rattle-free as my SR20 ever was with stock or Nismo mounts. the only difference is that if i good the throttle, the whole car rolls a few degrees because of the greatly increased rotational inertia of the engine. but who doesn't love a macho display like that?Kamin wrote:it rumbles the car for sure, if it bothers you just add a urethane mount. it wouldnt be hard. its just soild is a little easier, and for a track car its better.

I sold my RB and old 240 and now Im back and want to do the LS1 swap i just picked up a 95se.

What size piping did you go with on the exhaust?okis14 wrote:
It cleared about 1/4" with my previous mounts. These new mounts drop the engine almost 1". I have plenty of clearance. Also my hood has about a 1.5" duct that drops right over the TB. If I was running the stock hood I would have massive clearance.Kamin wrote:i dont think that intake is going to clear the hood...
