Are you making mounts or did you order them? And from who if you ordered them?574-240sx wrote:I'm trying to do it for under 6k but I will see. So far I have 4100 into it. I have a 01 drop out with 41K and a full standalone. Motor mounts are coming in 2 weeks.
302 and 351 is Ford right? Difference between them and the 4.6 and 5.0?WDRacing wrote:Actually, I'm leaning towards the 302/351 myself. A slavaged Cobra is fairly cheap.
Hate to be a killjoy but the ls series motors are C.O.P. So they dont use dizzies. lolWDRacing wrote:Yep, those are Ford engines. The main reason I like the 302/351 is the location of the dizzy. Its in the front and not the back like Chevy.
The 4.6 is a OHC motor. Some were all aluminum motors, I believe they came in the Lincoln MK VIII. The 302 and 351 are just regular Iron block pushrod motors.
The 302 and 351 are also very narrow V8's, which will make turbo headers ALOT easier compared to the LSI.
But this is an LS1 thread, we should keep it LS1. I'll make a new thread to discuss the Ford SB's.

Did you notice any place where I said the LSx has a dizzy? NO...and it's CNP, coil near plug not on plug if you want to argue the minutia.SLo SR20DET wrote:

Actually, I've personally fit both into an S14. The 302 is not much smaller and is actually HARDER to fit than an LS1 due to the ridiculous intake. In my opinion, it would not be hard to run a twin turbo setup at all (see pic below)...but the reason I'm doing this swap is because I don't want to mess w/ a turbo.WDRacing wrote:

I was comparing the ford small block to the chevy small block. Not the LSx series mind you, but the typical iron block push rod 305 or 350. The LSx is a far better motor. But it's alot wider and its alot more expensive. The LS1 makes it difficult to run a twin turbo setup.
But like I said, I want to keep this thread about the LSx series motor.
