so i've been messing with my timing (moving the distributor around) and i cant seems to get it just right. its almost there just that it idles horribly and when i start it in the morning it stays on on the second try maybe sometimes the third try. and when i touch the throttle th RPMS go down b4 going up. i have a timing light but dont know how to read it cuz it has no screen. and i did some research on alldata and i read about the "idle adjusting screw". where is that located on the car? Also it said i need a "consult".

pics would help alot. thank you!!!!!

if you dont know what you are doing, leave the timing alone. The idle adjusting screw is near the back of the intake manifold.

i know the timing isnt that hard. you just gota disconnect the TPS and move the dizzy around wile the engine is running. is the idle adjusting screw near the idle air controle valve? what does this IAS look like. thanks

You dont need it to have a screen, you point it on the the timing pin coming off the toming chain cover and you willl see the timing marks on the crank pully. Pretty simple, and I wouldnt mess with the idle untill you get your timing right.

ok its says i have to aline that pin with the 20 mark on the crank pulley. is that b4 i restart the engine again? cuz when i read the instructions it says i have to do it wile the engine is on. and im not sure how that works. my timing light is just a gun with a triger on it. no dial.

Step 1. Get a friend that knows what they are doing to help you. You are making this harder than it is.

Connect timing light. After making sure no wires will get caught in the fans etc, start car. Point timing light at lower pully and pull triger.

Adjust distributor as shown in the tutorial.

After this adjust idle if needed.

ok i think i got it. i did it at nite cuz i thought the timing light just threw a ball of light but theres a line of light going threw that ball and thats the one i gotta align with the center of the crank pulley and the timing pin. then when i have car on with the tps disconected im supose to get the idle down to a steady 700. am i right?
