people stand around and look sheepishly at each other...

I've seen this happen at meets all the time.

using that excuse is no worse than giving someone flak on the internet.

I sometimes miss my KA when I have been driving one of my other cars for a while. It truely can take an epic beating and come back for more...
Its not without its problems, but come on... who is?

BTW OP... you are being kinda of a sensative nancy in this thread... if it weren't for the fact that a select few cars have KA's other than 240s... I'd move this thread to the 240 section. Oddly enough, no one with an altima has posted yet...

I miss my single cams. My twin cams I don't really care. I like the way the single cam made power but the twin always felt a little compromised.

Buy my Q. I'm thinking about selling it. Since I moved into the city the mileage is killing me. Of course it would be better if I could keep my foot out of it, but If I do that why do I own a V8 in the first place?

You mean Classic.

Over 25 = Classic
Over 50 = Antique

Current Model Years

Classic - 1985
Antique - 1960

Maybe in your state. In Breadbox's and my state, Antique is 25. My MR2 has Antique plates on it and next year so will the Corolla.

oh someone told me 27 years is antique.

Good to know. My 720 is already classic. I mean antique Sweet.

Is it worth getting antique plates for any reason?

In NY it takes 25 years old to get "historical" plates. But the car has to be screened to get them. It's not just done by age, it has to be significant. I'm surprised they hand plates labeled "antique" to any ol' 25 year old car.

What can I say, not every place sucks. Maryland is even better, it's 20 years for historic (basically same rights as antique in most dmv's) and they dont care at all. They also have a "street rod" plate that allows for a lot of wiggle room in what you can or cannot do to a vehicle.

NY is has the worst car laws in the country, behind CA. No exhausts "louder than stock" can't legally lower your car, not that it's a good idea on our crappy roads anyway. Can't swap an engine unless it meets or exceeds the original engines emissions. You can't put a non catalyst engine in a car that didn't originally come with one. The list goes on. Basically. if you're not stock, it's probably illegal.

PA is like that too.... 15 years is classic, 25 is antique

there are pros and cons

the pros to getting specialty plates, classic=no emmissions antique- no inspection period.

the cons are mileage and useage restrictions (less than 5000, obviously you cannot daily it) but im not sure how you can really enforce it if you never have to inspect it.

all you need to do, is take four pictures, front back and sides and send them in to the dmv

it needs to be completely stock on the outside to get plates or so im told. im not sure how they feel about paint fade etc, as im probably going to try to get them for my Z.
