Chally,

Thanks for posting the pics for me. If you still have my Dyno sheet (naturally aspirated) it may be work posting here to show the effect of the headers ie 50 rear wheel HP

I have reloaded my computer & have lost some info, & I think your sheet was one of them.

The figures I got from your man Jeff are as follows at the rear wheels.

Stock = 168hpExhaust from headers back = 190hpUni Chip for computer = 210hpHeaders = 242hp

Tractive Effort went from 900lbs to 1300lbs.

So, if you take the Uni Chip out, you get an increase af approx 54hp with just an exhaust "done properly"!

Chally,

You will still need the Unichip, as the fuel mix ran quite rich after fitting the headers. The unichip was quite an effective way of adjusting the fuel mix.

AGM - We (BRMExhaust) are in the middle of doing some R&D on a catback exhaust for the Q...

Would you mind emailing me more details on the system, so I can make sure I'm on the right track?

ACK! No wrapping, please, FYOB on a street car. The wrap stresses the begeezus out of the metal & will lead to an early demise.

AZ...this is the ghost of headers you need to produce...offer them in stainless only. Oh yeah, by the way...don't let these become the unicorn the exhaust has become. :poke

AGM & Chally.... :ylsuper Those are some real world attainable numbers that make total sense based on my experience. Great job!

Are you selling these? I'd be willing to chip in for a test fit, on a 91 at least. :D

Fuh-Qer, :pface

You have dibs on everything, don'cha?!

Just offering for a test fit on a LHD G50, if they work, I'd forward them if you'd make them. And you know:

a) I don't want to be a manufacturer.b) r&d is time consuming & worth something, you'd be surprised who I've done field r&d for.c) I want to see these through.

Glad to see you got the car back. :D

If you can get them from him (he hasn't replied to my email for a price), then I will have a set made if you loan them to me for a week or two.

Whatever makes it easier for all of us. Have you heard from Ash?

OK, I MAY sell my exhaust system. The exhaust was designed for a naturally aspirated set up/ and or light boosting up to about 6psi. Now that I am running a higher boost I may look at bigger pipes. Just waiting to get the Torque Converter back from Level 10, to test the car at the higher boost levels and establish if the exhaust system is still optimal for the additional boost.

Will sell the exhaust system if offered sufficent $$$

Ash - I never heard back from you on the headers... I'd REALLY like to buy/replicate them.

I'd even give you a % of any profit I make off future sales of them.

Maybe he'd be willing to rent them for 2 or 3 weeks with proper documentation -i.e insurance, shipment tracking/guaranteed delivery, etc. Just a thought -Squee

Sorry if I'm late to the party, just to clarify a couple of things, AGM, you still have the headers on the car & plan on keeping them ongoing as opposed to a newer design you're working on?

If that's the case, I wouldn't go through the trouble to disassemble the car unless it's not a daily driver and they are already off the car for whatever reason (transmission). Or, if it were really worth your while as loaners.

It'd probably take 2-3 weeks to receive them, another to fit them *if* LHD presents fitment issues, then several more to replicate one set with which to build a jig for others.

What did your fabricator use for flanges? Stock flanges cut from OE manifolds?

As far as the exhaust, for me, at least, I'm good there. Either with a BRM or one I'll make myself, mandrel bent stainless, x crossover from Bassani, etc.

Hope this clarrifies my intentions.

If I get enough $$$ I will sell my whole exhaust system that is currently on my vehicle, which is a daily driver.

I am only looking at a larger diameter exhaust system to match my 10lbs boost level, if I get enough $$$ to offset the cost of the new system.

If I don't get enough $$$ for my current system, I will just leave it on. Although the current exhaust system was not desinged for 10lbs boost, it is OK to leave.

I can't justify building the new exhaust system without selling the existing one. I already have way to many spare parts.

I would be looking for a staight clean sale, so a loaner is not viable for me.

Regards

Fair enough.

I may try to fab them from the pics alone. I'll be using 3/8" stainless billet for flanges, and T304 stainless for the tubing.

Ash, what else is in the "spare parts" pile? Anything interesting?

Do you mind if I ask publicly what your initial investment was & what you're *thinking* would justify the time/expense of starting over?

Yesssssssss... :)

On the left, it starts at 90hp & goes up in 20hp increments.

On the right, it starts at 760lb & goes up in 360 increments to a max of over 3640lb.

The bottom figure is the road speed in kph.

I wish I understood these dyno numbers, but I don't

Can someone explain why the stock run only got 170 RWHP, so 230 CRANK HP?

The gains are SWEET though..

If you could get those on a q with normal dyno runs (220-230 RWHP stock/ 240-250 RWHP JWT)

that would mean you could get close to 300 RWHP
