Who makes an intercooler with the inlet and outlet both on the same side? I decide with the power goals I'm looking for I can hit them without the Greddy intake manifold. The piping would look a lot cleaner and I wouldn't have to worry about taking the pipe connected to my throttle body all of the way back accross my motor. Know what I mean. If you know a link can you post it? Thanks a ton.

Doesnt the hybrid kit have piping that runs across the engine and then into the tb??

You could always buy the tanks and core you want and build your own. That way the ic will be made to your own specs.

Have you thought about the air resistance of the intake having to make a u-turn at the end of the ic? To me these ic setups seem to be inefficient, but i have not looked into them that much. This was just my first impression after seeing one. They are using this setup on the HKS supercharged 350Z so you might be able to find one from them.

Here's one:

And of course Spearco makes many more in this configuration.

I was actually looking for something like this. I think it would be a good fit for an RB 20 or 25 because of the inlet and outlet points. http://www.hahnracecraft.com/h...l.htm

I have the one from roadrace in my s14. I cut a hole out behind the driver headlight for the upper IC pipe. Piping was SOOO easy and clean. It took 1 and a half J bends from summit racing, no straight pipes even. I just used the stock rb20 ones:short one from turbosilver one from manifoldlonger black one off of silver one.

All others were made. I got my IC off ebay. It is an 18 x 3 x 6 core made by griffin. The end tanks are by spearco. Griffin makes cores up to 24x3x6.

[EDIT] .... I see what they did. The FMIC still looks like crap tho. Maybe a fancy idea, but still crap.

The SMIC looks good, but there's no guarantee it will even fit in our fender wells.

Whats wrong with the intercooler? Looks like it would work really well to me.

I take all of that back... I just looked at the price. If it is truly only $399, then I want one. Even their vertical flow FMIC costs more than that.

I said it was crap because it uses half of a pipe "with the same flow area" as a 2.5" pipe. But round pipes always have the lowest pressure drop because they minimize surface area. According to their specs tho, pressure drop is reasonable.

Still, I see no reason to go with a horizontal flow FMIC when a vertical flow FMIC will fit better, have lower pressure drop, and give better throttle response.

Nevermind. $399 is for a standard horizontal flow FMIC... it does not have the integrated pipe for that price.

So the vertical flow is still better.
