Im not a huge gamer but I find that RTS games are easy to get into and almost relaxing to play. My current favorites are:

Dawn of War/Dark CrusadeRise of LegendsAll the Command and ConquersAge of Empires II

Love RTS. It's what got me into PC gaming (the original C&C specifically).

C&C series is definitely my favorite.WarCraft II is a close secondEmpire Earth is my favorite "real world" RTS.AoE II was great as well.

I havent really played many RTS's since C&C's Red Alert, which was a long time ago. I did like them though. I've been meaning to try the new Tiberium Wars (didnt they have a TW way back?)

They had Tiberian Dawn and Tiberian Sun. No Tiberum Wars.

EA sucks, though. C&C3 was NOT supposed to be called Tiberium Wars. What a stupid name. The whole series would be "the tiberium wars." C&C3 is A Tiberium War.C&C3 was supposed to be called Tiberian Twilight.

Still, the game managed to survive development at the hands of EA with it's gameplay mostly intact, which is what really matters.

Ah, that must have been what I was thinking of.

How is Company of Heroes? I remember a large buzz about that game when it was in development.

wow that takes me back, yea RTS were what i used to play alll the time way before i got into shooters or rpgs.

I started with Warcraft 2, then the whole civilization series, then C&C, and C&C:red alert, then starcraft, then warcraft 3 i stopped playing for the most part. havnt really touched the genre since which is a shame since i have so many fond memories of owning people in battlenet lol!

In addition to the usual Star/Warcraft and C&C games I also loved Total Anniliation and Dark Reign, both had excelent customizable AI for units which was way ahead of the cometition at the time and great selection of units.

I'm addicted to Civ 4 right now. But I can't bring myself to spend the $30 on the new expansion pack..

I liked Age of Empires 2, but not 3 (if I could only get that money back..)

Command and Conquer is great!

Never played empire earth.. Might have to try it out.

You can get Empire earth 2 and the expansion for like $20 at best buy.It is SOOO worth getting. Some aspects of it are similar to the microsoft rise of nations game, but it has far more technology aspects to it.

Nothing beats researching like crazy... then while your enemy is in the renaissance era and their most advanced unit is musketmen..... you send in a squadron of nuclear bombers. Outcome is obvious... but i like the way it allows you to do stuff like that.

As far as turned base games the Galactic Civilizations 2 is a pretty good game as well.

Yeah the Empire Earth Epoch system is awesome. Nothing like playing a big map, big numbers game through ALL the epochs. It makes for an insanely long game (multiple sittings) and it's a lot of fun.

Well you might want to check this project out http://spring.clan-sy.com/ its a fan made conversion of TA into a newer full 3d game engine similar to supreme commander etc... its pretty much 100% complete with all TA units however there is no AI available last time I check so only multiplayer was playable, Still fun to check out.

I started out with C&C, like most of us from my generation. Didn't get into Red Alert much. Dark Reign was great. Didn't get into TA too much, but played it some.

Empire Earth over the LAN at school was a blast. Nothing like teaming up with a buddy and having one concentrate on defense and the other research, then nuking a bunch of musketeers back to the stone age...
