Driving the Q home tonight the shifter broke loose-just laying somewhere near third gear but not held in place. It won't go into park or change gears. I stopped but didn't try to shift it too much. It went through the gears fine on its own and got me home. Anyone know what is up with that?

so its now stuck or something??

Sounds like maybe it just need adjusted or is binding somewhere... I think any decent mechanic should be able to diagnose it, as the shifter mechanism is fairly simple.....

I presume you mean the selector? It wasn't loose previously or anything?

Get it on a lift and look at the linkage.

I think the linkage is held on to the transmission with a single nut... as far as I know there are no cables involved. Q1 had a loose linkage once - but that was after a transmission replacement, so I presume the tech. didn't tighten it down.

The Q got a ride over to the transmission shop. No charge to fix the linkage. Will be riding in style again tomorrow!!
