So my friend bought a 240 to part out, one of the parts i really want is the LSD which is from a skyline

i know it bolts up to an s13, because well, its on there, but i was wondering a few things

what is the gear ratio? stock is 4.083, i would imagine its taller than stock, and probably a little bit taller than the J30 which is 3.916

The last question is, is it the same R200v found in the z32, j30, and some s14s?
or would this be a non viscous (mechanical?) lsd?

thanks in advance to whoever can clear this up for me, im pretty sure i want to get this LSD

i got mine used, was told it was a r32 diff. the gear ratio is the same, didnt notice any difference. and it is a viscous lsd.

Think some r33s and r32s use the 4.36 g.r.
i have one out of either a r32 or r33 with a 4.36 gear.

and yes they bolt up to s14/s13 but they are 5bolt.

Ok so that means the gear ratios are shorter than the stock diff?

and also is the viscous mechanism the exact same, or is it of higher quality/durability since its a skyline afterall?

shorter gears yea,
and same diff.
r200v

they put them in ALOT of nissans in the 90s.
casings may be a tad different, but guts are interchangeable with all r200vs

damn... i was really hoping they would have longer gears

the stock 240sx gearing is really short, is the skyline gear ratios like rediculously short? or is it not that much different

the j30 was noticably longer by a slight bit when i had my KA s14, but now that im SR with some bolt ons, i prefer the longer ratio

is the j30 the only option if you want longer gear ratios?

also, anybody thats running the skyline diff on boost, how would you say the gear ratios are? too short?
im thinking about doing it just for fun, but im afraid they are way too short of gear ratios

BTW a 4.36 would prob mate up nicely with the N/A KA for drifting.
if that is in fact in the skyline diff.

crack it open and find out which one it is.
think 4.08 is stamped 48:12
and the 4.36 is stamped 48:11

if not sell it.
I've seen them go for 300-400bucks!

Yeah if i had a KA still that wouldnt be a problem, but im SR with a few bolt ons and a fuel pump, so thats a no-go

i can probably get the diff for like $100 but i really doubt they go for that much

also ive heard the z31 (tt or n/a, not sure) lsds are a clutch type, can anyone verify that? and if they are r200vs or not
