Who here painted or dyed their door panels and glove box lid?

I was thinking of doing this, painting them black or something instead of the purplish colour they are not to try to match the exterior...

anyone do that before?

I have, the outside of the car is black and i pained the inside doors, glovebox, and some trim red. It looks nice.

i never really liked painted panels (no offense guys, paint away.) i think the only colors i would paint my interior are black, and gray. but whatever yuou guys want. im just puttin in my 2 cents

I painted the dash and center column for my malibu from grey to black came out nice. Used something called Plasticoat from Auto Zone doesnt' work good on seats though.

yea i'm doin plastikote on the soft stuff (doors) and exterior enamel and clear coat on the hard stuff and i'm removing the inserts completely and painting that to match the trim

it's all honda black/flat black so dont worry.. (cept the red inserts on my seat covers...) anyoen wanna trade them for all black leather?

i have an S13. I want to color/paint/replace the 'carpet' like material on my doors and glovebox. any advice?

i've seen those, Dont take this as rude, but do you think $40 would be a quality part? I dont want a cheep feeling.. and then my glovebox would still be carpet.

not taking it as rude at all i don't have those $40 ones, nor do i have a particular problem with my stock ones...i was merely suggesting that as an alternative to painting!

do you really think that will be quality looking? i could see painting smooth vinyl, but paining the tweed? thats gonna look way crappier than that guy's $40 stuff (IMO)

You are correct, Painting is pretty much out. I may email that guy to see if he can do a glove box cover. I would take my car to a custom interior shop... but i live in no-where.

I meant jsut the fabric pieces, and not to a funky colour, but to black or grey.

I wouldn't want to paint my trim or anything inside.

Yeah, I'm planning on ordering those $40 door inserts. I hate the damn carpet crap. I'm going to tell him to send me them in black for both sides. I am also ordering a whole brand new black carpet for my 240sx online for about $140 shipped. The carpet in my car right now is grey and looks like a piece of crap with stains and everything on it from the previous owner. So far . I've just got the shift boot in black . . from some guy off ebay . .looks super sweet. The cars at the mechanic so until then I'm gonna order everything i need for the interior. Planning on also getting bride seats, or some red recaro's, or maybe sparco torino's or either milano's in leather. Those are a few of the hottest seats. Other than that . .I want nismo interior accesories, like the shift knob, steering wheel . . (if I can find it available), and floor mats.

I'll post some pics when it gets installed and I'll keep you posted . .
