I dont know about that, I have one herniated disk and two degenerative ones in my lower back. They didn't show up on x-rays but were easy to see on the MRI's. Back pain is just a fact of life for me, if I lift something heavy, I can expect to feel it the next day. If I am playing paintball and change direction quickly, it'll hurt for the next week (learned that one recently). Working on the car...yep, that bothers it too. Standing up for more than about 2 hrs. at a time, that hurts but it's fine once I sit down for a while. Masterman, if you see a physical therapist, actually do the exercises your supposed to. I never do them, but should and I routinely pay for it. I just say "screw you back, your going to deal with this or I'll have your vertebrae fused together you little *****" it seems to bother me less when it knows what's coming

It's really not a big deal though, I've learned what I should and should not do and for the most part, it's quite manageable. I've never taken any pain medications for it as after the first really bad period with it when I found out just how ****ed up it was, I've gone a bit easier and it usually stops hurting now within a week or so. You'll get better MM, all that pain is being caused by that nerve

What you need is some good back stretching and strengthening exercises.
