Who has installed the GM type coils with a MSD DIS type ignition?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

I have seen pics of this and was wondering how to wire the ignition box to the rb coils. Since we have 6 individual coils this is throwing me for a loop.

I want to run this setup. I ran the DIS 4 on my Sunfire with nitrous but that was 4 years ago and I don't remember how the MSD gets wired.

You would have to run a DIS-4 AND a DIS-2. Either that or use an AEM 8-channel C2DI. I have one for sale if you are interested

Why would I need the DIS 2 and DIS 4. On the msd website they say the DIS 4 will do 6 or 8 cyl. with tower coils or individuals. The pics I have seen of this install on an RB only use the DIS 4. How much do you want for your AEM C2di?

The DIS-4 only has four trigger inputs. Therefore, the only way it can fire 6 or 8-cylinders is if the car is setup for wastespark with dual output coils. With six individual coils and sequential ignition, you would have to be using a standalone like the AEM EMS to convert to wastespark ignition.

I'm asking $350 shipped for the AEM. Do you have an S1 or S2 RB25 or RB20?

Ok, what I asking is, if I switch to Gm wastespark type coil towers with the tower adapters, will I be able to run the DIS 4?

nope, it will only see three triggers. There is no way to run 6 triggers to the DIS-4. Your car will only run on three cylinders. You have to have an engine management system that will incorporate the six signals into three trigger wires. It will NOT work with the stock ecu
