Ok I just got a 240 It's a 91 SE with hicas abs and LSD. I bought it with no motor with the intentions of putting in a SR20DET. I am just wondering how reliable the swap is though. this is a car i will have to drive everyday. I don't want something that is going to be breaking down all the time. I know the motor will be reliable but what about all the wirring? HOw much of the wirring harness has to be cut and spliced back together? (i will have a complete un cut wirring harness) I mean that seems like it would pose a problem having to cut and rewure the whole front of the car. Are there a lot of wire that just go to nothing when the swap is done? What about vacum lines? Do they all mate up or do you have a lot of them that you just have to plug off?

IS there anything special that i have to consider for the ABS? I know i will have to get a hicas p/s pump from a SR20.

My car currently doesn't have a motor at all. Will i need to buy an complete front clip for all the brackets and stuff that was taken out of my car?

I want to keep AC do i have to cut and splice it's harness into my KA harness?

Just please give me some opinons on if you had any problems with the car after you were done. Or was it as reliable as it was with the stock KA?

I am planning on having unstable hybrids doing th conversion.

What is the cheapest place to buy a motor set or clip from? I have heard a lot of this flash options. Don't they just take a clip and take all the parts of the front frame and box them up and send them to you?

thanksShawn

If you are having someone do the swap for you then you shouldn't have to worry about all of ticky tack thing about the swap. Also don't buy the motor if its the cheapest. Buy quality. If you are going to have unstable hybrids do the swap then you should get your motor from them or else they will charge you more.

Finally are you Shawn Watson the wakeboarder?

Don't mean to rip on you, but you ARE asking a lot of questions that can be simply found using the Search tool. Just to answer a few.....It's better to get a clip, wiring should be professionally done, make sure you double check everything BEFORE you put the motor in, and if you are getting it put in by Unstable, then you shouldn't even have to worry about things like that. Just have them take care of it....also try to get a motor from them as they WILL charge you more if you don't.

Thanks for the replies. I did search and found a lot of stuff after i posted this message. sorry about that. Anyway i just want to know all about what unstable is going to be doing for the swap. There are several different ways to do some o fht esame things and i want to learn the best one. So i can tell them which way i want them to do it.

and no i am not the wakeboarder.

ThanksShawn

There really is no other way to do the swap. Just plain and simple. Pull the old one out and drop the new one in. Now, wiring is a different story. But they can do it, no problem. Just make sure they SOLDER the wires together. No butt connectors, twisties, etc. I'm pretty sure that they'll solder it anyways. So good luck to you and you are always more than welcome to ask questions, just as long as you use the SEARCH tool first!! J/K
