i've embarked on a little headlight project...i finally baked the lens off...but it aint like in the pics i have reserched...where the glue is gooey lookin'...it was more like black pliable putty and still strong....i know i heated them long enough....cause one of the mount tabs actually started to become ...floppy but off it finally came...my issue is....im worried about the reassembly... the steps call to ...reassemble and bake again....but i dont think the glue will become liquid enough to reseal the lens without slowly melting the housing itself......

any ideas

I'm a baker, and there is no way I'd bake my lights!

LOL nice one I do believe there's a "Altima Interior / Exterior " forum which is a "discussion forum for body kits, repair, modifications, interior styling and internal/external lighting." Ppl are all happy to complain when it's other peoples threads but when it's their own..... *sigh*

oy...this is relating to our NEW 2008 COUPES..our lights are designed differently! and i am assuming glued differently....as i said in my first post...IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE IT SUPPOSED TO.....which means when i looked at pervious attempts...on OTHER OLDER cars..ie 2004 2005 altis...following the same directions...it doesnt look the same...so why in christs name would i look or post there?

i guess people are more interested in looking at and answering questions on floormats and tire valve caps.....very very sad..

in my post title i asked specifically.....WHO HAS BAKED THEIR HEADLIGHT>>>

if YOU havent or ARENT gonna.....then....well...DONT BOTHER READING IT...nor telling me where to post....spend your time reading and commenting on the guys who need tell us their driving techinques on toasting soccer moms and grandmas heading to bingo in their 1981 aries K in their 2.5's w/ axle back exhuasts...."i swear dude..it was the nismo sticker...it gave me like .5 horse more"

but thank you for caring!

yours in christ,STRM

Our heads are the same as the 07-08 sedans, maybe you should ask some of the 4th gen sedan folks if they had a similar issue.

So you might have seen my post a few weeks ago about how I was shippinh my headlights to New Jersey to black out the lenses and do a projector retrofit. This guy is a professional and this is an email he sent me about them when they finally got to NJ.

Some bad news.

These lights use the permanent type sealant. Not the type that gets all soft and easy to work with.

It is possible to open them, ive done it once before, but its not worth it to put my name on a final product like that. Basically it takes up to 3 hours of extra work just to open them alone. Back and forth inside the oven to slowly separate the housings, and then lots of work removing all the old sealant. On top of that we need to use new sealant and the seal will never be like oem.

Sorry, but I cant do anything for you. I will need to ship them back to you.
