I have a ca compressor as well, I am assuming that you can just bolt the KA lines onto the KA compressor, and charge it up, and be good to go.

you'll use the KA compressor, bolt it to the CA bracket, and then take both compressors to Nissan and have them swap the pullies.

Float, I've been wondering about that since hearing they bolt up but pullies don't align. is the only reason to take it to nissan that you need funky tools?

So only the Nissan dealer can swap the pullies over?

a/c is next on my to-do list... this heat is kicking my a$$ recently. it was 95 degrees today, and I was sweating my balls off:(

If I have a CA a/c compressor, is there any fittings that are the same (as a USDM car) or does anyone have lines (cut the fittings off and send them to me? TMS?;)) I'm gonna have an a/c shop custom make me some lines, so I'm not too worried about that, I just need the actual fittings on the compressor... suggestions anyone? I know the SOHC compressor one fits, etc etc... but I'd like to figure out how to make this CA one work, seeing as I had a DOHC car to begin with.

i should. just have to get the rubber grommets that go around the lines into the firewall and then charge the system. but then again, i don't think my setup counts

Ok, here is what I've done/what I have to do. I had a SOHC KA. I swaped in the CA. I'm using the KA A/C pump. AFAIK Nissan is the only one that has the right tool to do this, but I could be wrong as I haven't looked around much and I've got a hookup in the local Nissas service department, so my stuff always gets taken there if I need help. It is possible (and has been done) to have the CA pump lines brazed onto your KA lines and they not have to swap pullies. The reason I'm going to do mine the way I am, is because it was just charged with R12 3 years ago and has a new compressor on it.

Will a KA24DE compressor work? I have half the lines from my CA pump. I will prob just take in all my lines and get some custom ones made up if the DE compressor dosen't fit.

What kind of shop can make these lines?

A KA compressor will bolt up to the bracket. you'll have to swap pullies or have the lines brazed on.

Thats an interesting subject you brought up.

I am toying with that idea for my SR as well. The condenser is still on the car "all" I'd need was a compressors and lines n stuff.

But compressor=$$ also a aftermarket sunroof migfht do the trick. But then I wonder how much is my body's stiffness commprosed of I do that since the car came w/o sunroof and what seam to be a load bearing element runs over my roof.

Fred...:)

Doh! I missed the DE part, sorry about that.

Fred, I'd just get some A/C hooked up. Leave that coupe stiff like mine. I need to check, but I may have a spare DE compressor. I don't know how it works for the SR, you might want to check on it.

So if you have a CA in a DE car you need which compressor?

SOHC or the original CA compressor. OR you can swap the pulley from the CA compressor onto the SOHC KA compressor.

The SOHC KA pulley doesnt not line up with the rest to put a belt on.

:withstup EXACTLY what he said. You can hook up your AC either using the CA pully and haveing lines brazed on, or by using a SOHC compressor and having the pully swapped from the CA compressor. I'm not sure if a SOHC compressor will bolt up to a DOHC lines though....
