Hey, I have a 90' base SE. The car is in great condition, but the speedometer decides when it wants to work. Its analog, of course, and so far as ive searched, analogs are the only ones with this problem (this problem is of no reference to the HUD's). I guess my point would be, it seems like something in the clusters of the analogs are whats causing these failures. i need support, this is my first car and I need a speedo.

My analog cluster is moody, my friends ask, "whats up with that." I tell them, "V-tec kicked in yo."

I believe the sensor costs like $120.00 on courtesy parts.

I believe the only downside other than not seeing how fast you're going is your car tops out at 80mph when the cluster isn't working right.

ill tell you this much,it may be the cluster cause i have the same issue and i ran conzult on it ,it threw the code for the speed sensor, so i went ahead and replace it,reset the ecu and the car still threw the code so i said fudge it. ill run like that, then just a couple of day ago i ran conzult again guess what,no codes but the speedometer still thosent work, the car has PMS...enough said

well, as ive heard its always the sensor, but if i give my little PMS'n cluster an affectionate love tap, it may start working, soooooooo can somone explain that? thats the main reason i think its not my sensor, though my CEL is on......im confused i guess would be a necessary conclusion.

I to have had this problem with 2 of the 4 S13s I've owned. It is most likely NOT the sensor but the Spedo itself! I tried replacing the sensor first and it didn't work, so I got an extra cluster and just replaced the Spedo. It's not difficult, and it has worked twice now for me. I have an 180MPH LS Automotive http://www.lsauto.com/products.asp Spedo in my S13 now, but you can get a stock one off of ebay or the classifieds here on NICO. Try it, I'd be willing to bet it works.
