not bondo. Fiberglass resen its different. I think using bondo for FG repair would be sloppy

uhhh no, Bondo is not fiberglass resin. Bondo is more like a glazing putty but stronger. Fiberglass mat or cloth and resin should be sold at all automotive retailers. Home Depot and Walmart also carry it, I believe.

Go to any good-sized marine supply store. Some shops specialize in composites--you'll find a dozen fabrics available. They might require a minimum purchase though.

What kind of work are you doing? Just FYI, mold work requires either a pressure bladder or a vacuum pump, plus bagging, breather material, peel-ply sheets, mastic tape, etc. It's fun but expensive, chemically hazardous and very time consuming.

mold work doesn't need all that ****. Just needs resin and hardener.which you can get at walmart, lowes, whereever.for the cloth skip the thin **** available at those stores, get some heavier stuff from tapplastics.com, they are the best. always kind to me, and I do a lot of fiberglass work.

select product is very expensive for what you get. I know, I've ordered from there before. Now the only reason I order from them is if I need a color of vinyl or carpet that I can't get anywhere else. they have some neat **** but its so ****ing expensive.

For fiberglass work, tapplastics has everything you need, its really cheap, they ship fast, their site is easy to navigate, and they have an amazing selection.

here is another tip:carbon fiber vinyl is gay, try going to tapplastics and getting some real carbon fiber cloth instead.

yah i know i don't need all that special crap. I just need the resin and hardener and probobly some thin cloth becuase im covering the pignose. Also makeing a minor hole repair and various other cracks..Isn't there filler or puddy that is FG? I really don't want to use bondo. I am just thinking of paint compatability. With paint you can't use urethane paint on a laquer base coat. It just doesn't work.

So long term im thinking the same goes for bondo vs fiberglass

bondo IS fiberglass resin, with talc powder mixed in. Of course its more complicated than that, but if you wanted to make your own using talc and resin you could. Bondo sucks though, try using what they call "kitty hair."its basically loose strands of thread mixed with resin, and you mix in hardener and you can use it to fill holes, etc. Its a hell of a lot more durable than bondo and it won't crack and fall off down the road (or at least not nearly as easy). Try and keep your layers of bondo thin.

ok that would work. I could put a sheet behind the hole and bondo for the filler and a sheet on top. Beautiful. Thx! :)

BTW what area of walmart would carry all this ?

its back in the automotive paint section, usually on the floor shelf, in quart containers. Its considerably cheaper to buy it by the gallon at lowes if you need that much (22 a gallon here), or by the 5 gallon bucket if you need even more (as cheap as 50 a bucket at boat/auto body warehouses).
