white smoke while going uphill????

i did a search but none of the subjects applied to my scenario. yesterday i was driving uphill on the freeway for about a mile. halfway through i realised by ovedrive was off. i turned it on midhill and the car didn;t take the hill the same. so i turned it off and it went better but white smoke was coming out the rear. im not sure it it was from the exhaust or from underneath the car. it seemed like a wide cloud of smoke so i doubt its the exhaust. im assuming i ****ed up by switching the ovedrive like that. but im not sure if i just about killed my transmission or am i ok as long as i dont do that again. also the car has not done that again going on other hills. any suggestions or ideas??

if i was burning oil wouldn't it continue to smoke all the time???

do a compression test. you may not have a constant leak, but the low compression could allow some oil to get in and burn when the engine's working hard.

i've seen this on almost all D series civics because they run at such low compression.

i dunno though. just a suggestion :P

I am also getting this problem in my 97 kouki

it never throws any smoke when its on a flat road but once i head up the

grapevine it throws mad smoke people honk once the pass me

In my case it ended up being that i had a bad oil seal on the crankshaft
