Sometimes when i start up my G35, a bit of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. It goes away after about 5 seconds, and it doesn't do it every time i start up the car. Anybody else ever have this happen? What causes it?

Sounds like a bit of blow-by in the cylinders or you have a small seal leak. I assume it only happens after it has sat for a while?

Yeah, it usually happens when it has sat for a while.

White smoke is usually caused by burning coolant...if it starts doing it all the time, could be a head gasket.

If its from the head gasket, the white smoke would be a constant thing...not just after the car sits for a while. Just keep your eye on you coolant/oil levels. If the coolant level goes down, and you oil level goes up, that's a tell-tail sign that your head gasket is blown.
