About two weeks ago I drove my 91 sr implanted 240sx for about 10 minutes just to get to the mall. Everything ran perfect. When I left the mall I started the car and backed up but loads of white smoke poured out the exhaust. It was A LOT of smoke. My car wasn't overheating, I wasn't low on coolant, had the right amount of oil, then I remembered that I had plugged the vapor catch canister line from the gas tank when I did the swap. I took off the gas cap and a I heard a big woooshh from sucking air. I waited a little while and started up the car and there was no more smoke.

About two weeks later (today) I drove the car for a about 10 minutes once again. I was shifting at about 2700 and didn't notice anything wrong. I'm trying to get over in the next lane but this guy in a starion is being an a$$ so at 30mph and in 2nd I try to give it some gas but I'm not going as fast as I normally do. After that I tried to shift a little higher to see how bad it is. It was pretty laggy, not the normal punch I get. When I get to my destination I'm there for about 10 minutes and then I leave. Only when I start to back up, loads of white smoke pour out my exhaust. I check the gas cap but I never tightened from before so there was no vacuum in the tank. Coolant is good. What could be my problem?

Oh the smoke smelled bad if that matters. Thanks for any help I can get.

EDIT: I just left it in the parking lot so I havn't tried driving it with the smoke coming out.

does it smell kindof sweet? or is it a burning smell?

It could be torn injector O rings causing you to run VERY rich. Could also be coolant in the exhaust... It takes almost no coolant to make LOADS of smoke.

Ok I just drove it home and had one puff of smoke on start up then it stopped. It ran really well too. Wasn't weak at all. The smoke doesn't smell sweet, it smells like crap.

It only happened twice when I drove for 10-15 minutes, then wait about the same and then started it again

Would I lose a noticeable amount of oil? Would I have any power loss? What symptoms would I have?

no...i burn oil all the time in it...it really doesnt take away from yer motor oil...at least not enough to cause problems (a little oil goes a LONG way when it burns on yer exhaust)...you wouldnt notice a decline in power either...youll just start having white plumes of smoking bellowing from yer exhaust until u rev the motor to get the oil moving thru it again...yer symptons will be white/blue smoke that smells aweful (like something is burning)...if your seals are goin its recommended you either A)get the turbo rebuilt or B)get a whole new turbo all together...its normal for a turbo to go bad...they all do...but i will recommend you getting the turbo seen to if thats whats causing the problem

Too much oil in you exhaust will ruin your catalitic converter. It will plug up with oil killing your catalitic converter, and your performance by creating too much back pressure.

a cat usually catches the burning oil smoke and disapates it...so since u have a straight pipe and catback u will get the burning oil smell and smoke...again no biggie...just think about buying a new turbo (S15 T28 turbos are only 800 bones and make 325+ hp easy)

i was thinking of getting enjuku's kit. oh i talked to them today and they said it was oil getting through the valve seals and the same thing was currently happening to some of their cars, so i guess ill just replace everything on the engine and hope that fixes it

The seals were shot on the exhaust side on one of the turbo's and both sides on the other one...the intake was swimming in oil in the second case...

i replaced em ofcourse....

thats a lesson BTW, dont up the stock boost by 3 times on a smallish turbo.....7 psi - 22 psi
