I have a 91 s13 with Kat in it. Now the problem I'm having is white smoke from the exhaust. The head gasket is the first thing that comes to mind. However, I'm trying to get more opinions before I decide to tear the head off and replace it. The thing is the white smoke happens after warming the car up. If I let it idle, it will continue smoking even after reaching operating temp and letting it idle for a long time. However if I drive it around, the smoke tends to go away. I also sense.a misfire, probably from coolant getting into my cylinders. Once again if I drive it around, it goes away with the smoke. I also sometimes see a little puddle of coolant at the front of my car, possibly from a failing water pump. My oil isn't.turning a frothy Brown and I don't see.oil in the radiator. I don't know if the puddle of coolant and the white smoke are linked. I've tried checking to see if maybe coolant is entering through the water runner next to the first cylinders intake runner, but could.not tell as I didn't want to take the manifold off. Tried to do a compression test but the cheap tester broke and almost got.stuck in my spark plug hole. Got 195 on the first cylinder though. I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or do u guys think it is for sure the head gasket.

Does your oil ever end up overfilled? Coolant reservoir ever end up overfilled? Where is the drain for the turbo plumbed into?

No, no, and to the oil pan. If anything I lose oil and coolant. I have a slight oil leak from either the turbo drain line or the pan. I'm leaning towards the pan because I kinda did a bad job gasketing it.

If the turbo drain is submerged in oil, it can cause oil to back up in the turbo and seep into the turbine housing and start smoking. I had this issue on my sentra. Also a kinked drain tube for the turbo can cause this.

I'm pretty sure the smoke is coolant vapor. I can see a small puddle of it in my muffler tip when I idle long enough. I'm thinking it might have something to do with my intake manifold. I'm researching that right now. I'm gonna take a look to see if there's any coolant in my throttle body.

no coolant getting in from the throttle body. gonnA try a compression test again tomorrow...we'll see how that goes. im now leaning towards it being the head gasket...what a PITA.
