I have a 1990 300ZX twin turbo. it is a right hand drive.

Not sure if the engine bay is designed differently than american version.

The battery is located on the left side, fairly close to the windshield. When the engine runs for a bit and gets hot, we get white smoke coming out beside it closest to the engine. it has a smell, but i can't decide what it smells like.

Ideas?

thanks in advance

Does it smell sweet? Have you noticed any fluid under the car after parking for awhile?

Also possible the battery case has split.

sorry, been away from the computer.

We put a new battery in about a month ago.

The smoke almost has a burnt smell to it. not sweet at all. oil level has stayed the same since i changed it about a month ago. also the anti freeze level has stayed the same. i haven't noticed any leaks.

today it almost had a bit of a gas smell to it.

it doesn't happen every time it is started either. very weird.

There's something back there leaking and burning then. That's where your turbo is, and those lines are prone to leaks. See if you can't get a better look at the turbo feed lines.
