White or Black???

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

About to close a deal on the EX. See post here: zer...anada

Still undecided though on black or white. I've been looking at tons of pictures of black and white trying to decide. I've also been on the Infiniti lot this Canadian Thanksgiving (no one at the dealer to bug me) just to compare them in real life. Here's how I feel.

White: Looks good but I feel its a girly color (just me) but I like how it really shows off the shape of the car. Pearl effect looks good in the light too. I really like this color aside from the girly effect. Black plastic arond the bumpers are obviously not hidden.

Black: More meaner looking. Kinda hides all the black plastic around the bumpers. Unlike white, black kinda hides the shape of the Ex too (all the curves and lines I mean). Chrome on the black shows off more, kinda torn here too, sometimes I feel its too blingy sometimes I feel its ok.

Last thoughts. For some reason the on the side profile the black looks more wedge shape because the black plastic bumpers "form" a single shape, whereas the white (as I said) contrasts with the black plastic at the bottom so it looks sharper instead of wedge.

What do you guys think? I think I've stared too much at the EX now.

I would go with the black period.

C`mon this car looks girly looking from the start.

Go for Black! It`s sexy!

By the way, do you consider Liquid Platinum ?

FWIW, between Black & White, I'd go for Black - having the body cladding blend in makes it look sleeker and more uniform.

I'm a guy, a straight normal guy and I own a white EX. Love it! Love the shape and color. I don't think it's girly. Choose the color you like the best and be comfortable with yourself.

Here's how I see it:

- I originally wanted a white one until I saw it in person and found that it was too girly for me. The EX is already a bit girly to begin with like Bernard said, I agree 100%. - My last 3 cars have been silver so that would be a natural choice, but I also found it a bit too girly (not as much as white though)- Black IS the best colour, but for me, I only drive the EX during winter so having a black car for a winter car isn't very practical because it'll always look really dirty.

SO, my decision was to go for the Grey Colour "Diamond Graphite" some people find it kinda boring, but it's the right compromise of "manliness" and "easy to maintain" for me.

If keeping it looking clean wasn't a concern, I'd choose black for sure!

having owned cars in both of these colors, here's the lowdown.

Black. for an automobile, is by far the coolest/sexiest color on the planet -- BUT -- only if it's clean. I got SO tired of washing and/or dusting these cars that I have vowed to not own another black car.

Current cars are both white (My M45 and the wifes EX) The EX looks good in white, does not show dirt at all, and chrome wheels brighten it up considerably (dealer can get the factory wheels chromed for you, or go aftermarket) If you are worried about "manly vs. girly" just add some 20" wheels to this puppy and make it a bad dog.

SO, unless you only drive your cars on sunny days, or work at a car wash, I'd go with white, based on where you live.

EX35_bernard, if you can wait to decide until Friday evening, I'll post my white EX with 20" rims; so you can visualize it and give you a better judgment. I'm out town right now. Black is sexy color too.

There is also a member posted his/her white EX with black 20" rims photos; browse around. The car looks really nice.

AWGD8: Liquid platinum is a nice color but my brother has 2 silver cars already, and in our family we tend to unconciously "own" a color. So there's an unspoken rule where we can't steal colors. (I know its weird).

Unmatched: Dark currant looks good too its kind of an off black. First I didnt like it but I've actually appreciated it more especially with the chestnut leather. With that package it looks like a vintage leather bag or shoe or suitcase!

Right now the scale is tilting to white...still undecided. But either way I think I can't go wrong. I like them both. We'll see.

What about BLUE SLATE or TIDE Water?

These color look better than white.

My first car was white. There were times that some part of the panel aren`t white as it used to be after a few years. Have you seen white old cars that has white stain or some white color is not as white as the other panel? And also be very careful with fresh asphalt as it will stick good in white...

The best white car that I like is the CHAMPIONSHIP WHITE Acura Integra Type R

It has this unique dirty white in it. Hard to describe, but looks really cool!

If you decided to get a white, I think gunmetal RIMS looks cool!

Like the TYPE-R

Check out MB MOTORING WEAPON RIMS design. (PIC Below) The color is Bronze but Bronze or Gunmetal should work with white. PLS...Pls..

NO CHROME RIMS

Judging from the replies most of you guys are gonna hate this but I went with white on graphite!

Since I only liked the graphite interior I felt black on black would look too dark and kinda monotonous for me. Plus the fact that the graphite is really a dark gray I felt it looks more gray against the black exterior.

So there you go. Thanks for all your inputs. If everythings goeas as planned picking it up next Saturday 25th. Then I'll go drive my girly mobile!

SOX404 I still want to see those 20's on the EX. Although I've lost interest in mods now and prefer all stock.

AWGD8 Coming from a laser blue (looks like athens blue) car it was not an option for me. Plus I haven't really seen Tidewater in person here yet. I wonder why?

NICO member "EX-lover" in Toronto (NOT ExLover, also from Toronto), has Tidewater. Don't think he posted any pics, though.

CONGRATULATIONS! Mine is white color graphite interior also. Love it!

Here's 20" rims on EX:

Before:

After

My next mods: curt hitch, xenon lights, stillen air filters. Sucks, California law does not allow tinted front windows, so I skipped this.

Wow! That looks good! How's the ride? Those tires look low profile...reminds me when I used to mod...I could feel every cigarette butt on the road! Love the look though, can't wait for Saturday now!

What happened to the before pic?

You'll be happier with White.

Black Paint looks like S H I T after a while, if you don't keep it up.

I know all about Black...

Thanks EX35_bernard. To be honest, it's not as bad as i thought. It's rougher and noisier, but it's not too bad. The cornering is improving.

I fixed the photo, hopefully you can see it now. I'll post more next weekend. Show us some photos once u get your car.

Nice wheels SOX!

I agree with M45Caliber... black is beautiful when clean. If you are using it for winter driving where there is snow, go with the white and get yourself some cool rims.

I bought a black S2000 and have vowed never again to buy a black car until retirement... when I have time to keep it spotless.
