I'd like to get my windows tinted in the near future, but there is a slight problem. The glass on the inside of my power windows continually accumulates a white film on my s14. With some rubbing, it will come off with a towel. It looks like it may be some corrosion that is picked up inside the door and deposited on my windows when the move up and down. It could be wax I guess from a previous owner I guess, but it seems more like some sort of corrosion. The rubber triangle at the front of the window frame also gets a slight white coating.

Has anyone else experienced this problem. I'd prefer not to take the door apart if I don't have to.

Cheers.

is it like a goopy film or more flakey? I know that they use a sticky, white sealer around the plastic cover inside the door, some of it might have got on the rubber around the window and is getting spread around. You should probably take the interior panel off regardless and check it out. If it is corrosion, you might need to fix whatever is causing it. It is not really that hard, a 10 minute job if you know what to do.

Its dry and rubs off like wax. It also happens on the passenger side, but since I don't use that window as often, it builds up less.

So there is a screw near the manual lock lever and one inside the handle pull. How many other screws are there? Are there one time use plastic anchors that have to break to get the panel off?

I took it to a tint shop today, and they said it was left over adhesive from a previous tint install. We'll see I guess
