White/Blue smoke AFTER Rebuild

Hello gents, Newbie at the forum REQUESTING help... Bought a 92 TT with blown engine. Had white/blue smoke comming out of left exhaust. Rebuilt engine after finding a blown piston ring, got rid of precats, REPLACED turbos, SAME exhaust setup, and when it was all complete i started the car and the same problem, white/blue smoke, not very thick comming out of left exhaust only. Its a constant white smoke once the car warms up. Any ideas......... Is it possible there is residual "gunk" in the exhaust??? Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks.

any residual gunk should cook off with a little run time, when you tore the engine down did you check the heads? valves?

shouldn't be any 'residual gunk' in your exhaust for more than a few minutes after reaching operating temperature.

Sounds like your headgasket was installed improperly and may be leaking oil/coolant into the cylinder.

All the valves, valve springs, lifters, were replaced, would a failure of a compression check tell me a bad head gasket?

a good rule of thumb is if you have white smoke that means burning coolant. blue to black smoke depending on the condition means oil. check the head gasket. thats usually the problem.
