Ok my car over heated not to long ago, but has yet to happen since i added some water wetter and thinned out the mix with some distilled water. However I am getting this little whistling sound at idle and after about 10 seconds i will get a howling kind of noise and it is coming from over by the alternator and i know that it probably is the water pump but i just want to make sure that it isn't my alternator. thanx.

It could be your idler pulley right in the middle of the timing cover. notorious for bearing noise. take a long screw driver or engine ears if you have one and listen to the center nut on the pulley and see if that is where the noise is the loudest. also place you listening divce in other areas to make sure it is not coming from the water pump bearing or some other source like the alt. you also may want to check your belt tension and make sure its not loose.
