When I accelerate to go onto the highway there is a high whistle sound coming from under the hood. Anybody know what that could be??

My mechanic found that the air filter was frozen. The person that had the car before me went through a puddle of water and it sucked it up into the filter and then froze. Could that be why it was whistling when I accelerated??

try changing your diff and transmission fluid. redline mt 90. if its the same noise mine made than its coming from your drivetrain not under the hood.

if youve checked everything everyone has mentioned and that doesnt change anything, its probably just a tiny bit of air getting in somewhere at a decent speed. but if the sound is actually only connected to your throttle maybe you should have your throttle body and intake components checked out?

take out your intake box and check for any holes, somebody had ripped my airbox out and it has big screwholes, and it whistles LOUD in the upper rpms, matter of fact its pretty constant on the interstate where your just bout maxing out your speedo at 95+ lol but yeh either that or check all the lil hoses on the intake tube

oh and 1 more thing, its very nifty for scaring away ricers, just rev up and they think your turbo! that is, 'if' they can hear you over their fart cans XP

I have a similar problem (although it doesn't bother me) my air cleaner assembly doesn't have the connection from the engine compartment through that hole to the outside air, and it sounds like it has a turbo, if your air cleaner assembly is complete, then yeah, try changing the transmission and diff oils and see if it goes away, or...possibly universal joints on the driveshaft?
