Whistle noise

Hey guys, i got this really weird noise that i hear ontop the the turbo spool. Right now im running with no exhuast so i can really hear the turbo spool.

I've been driving for the past 2 weeks etc... only problems were a leaky heater hose and shifting, both fixed.

And now, while my turbo spools up, i'll hear this extra whine or whistle, very puney whistle.

Since i'm not running an exhaust could this be my wastegate opening up?
