whissin noise near tank normal? help?

Hey folks~ I just got a 97 J30 with 65k miles and I'm lovin it!I have two questions... help. I don't know much about cars but I wanted to know if the "whhhhh" noise from the back speaker area is normal?? It sounds like fuel related...?? Does anyone know? and also the trainy jerks slightly between first and second gear but the higher gears are fine and smooth. Does this need checking?Appreciate your help folks!

If you hear the noise with the radio turned off it may be a failing fuel pump .The Jerk between first and second is fairly common if the transmission isnt warmed up.Check the transmission fluid level AND color.If its more brown than pink you need some fresh fluid.
