In cold weather and until the car begins to warm, I hear a "whirring" sound which seem to come from the left side of the front dash or toward the driver side window. It goes away after the car warms. It reminds me of a speedometer cable whirring sound but I think there are no such cables as everything is electronic. Just wondering.

Haven't noticed that on our 2011 AWD and right now we're at about -13 to -24 C temps in the morning

2 things:

- The motor is a bit noisy when cold. This is normal and it will quiet down once warmed up.
- The CVT will make whirring noises on coasting/deceleration.

Otherwise, I don't know what else could cause this.

Thanks. I'm reasonably positive it's not the cvt or engine. Of course by the time I would get t the dealership it would be gone. Or, I could leave it overnight but that saddles me with a 100 mile round trip for two vehicles. Ugh. Will try to isolate the sound a bit more from outside the vehicle and with the hood up. Why didn't I do that before!

Hi it may have something to do with the HVAC controls or w.e. when i change the middle knob, the temperature one to fully hot or turn it back to fully cold i hear a "whirring" sound but it goes away, maybe its this???

Oh, I forgot....

If you close the round air vents a certain amount, they will produce a whistling/whirring noise. This could be affected by heat... the plastic in the vent will expand and the air density decreases as it warms up. It's a long shot, but try it.

Some 'Rogue Music' perhaps?
