just recently, i hear this whinning noise when i step on the throttle on neutral... when i engage to drive, the noise goes away but as soon as i step on the gas and start to move, the whinning sound comes back.. this is really frustrating... i had just gotten my transmission fluid replaced (not flushed).. any idea on what gives? car is out of warranty and is automatic... help..

Check your drive belts. Mine made a weird noise while idling and with gas. I replaced them and the noise went away.

Do a search and you'll find my write-up on replacing the belts.

definitely not the drive belts... i just noticed too that when it is on neutral the whine is there, but when you engage to drive the sound goes away... but then when you start to move, the whine comes back... it is kindda loud and annoying... this is the fourth issue i had for this year... the sound just appeared out of nowhere... sounds like a bearing needing oil... last guess was the belt tensioner, no dice...

If you had the 6mt, I would have just blamed the transmission. This might be best dealt with by the dealer.
