I had a power steering leak (the hose on the top near the power steering tank). I got hose replaced last week.
Now I hear high pitch whining noise when I turn the wheel left or right.

I never heard this noise before the leak issue. The power steering fluid is filled up. No leaks. I turned the wheel left/right a few times.
Took it back to the mech. He just said its no problem. But I can't stand the noise. :frown:
What can it be. Is it the pump?
Do I have to give it more time?

Maybe some air still in the pump or line but you probably would hear that with the wheels straight
If you have reached the maximum turning radius of your rack and pinion, it will whine and that is normal

How do I get rid of the air bubbles?

Anybody?
I tried turning the wheel left/right to get rid of the air pockets/bubbles. But I still hear the whining noise.

Buy a mechanic's stethoscope ( $7 ) to listen to various car parts. Is your belt tensioner going out?

Check the temperature of your PS pump and power steering fluid. If they are warm, that ok.
But if they are red hot you have a problem.

Put the car on jackstands and see if you can replicate the noise. With one person turning the
wheel and another listening, you might figure it out.

Don't just key in on one problem and decide what the answer is quickly. You must be open
to other issues.

Technical manual says, with front wheel off the ground and engine off, to turn full lock-to-lock steady rate about five times. Start engine and repeat the process.

make sure rack and pinion clamps are tight and bushings are not terribly worn
