Hey guys. I have a quick question and maybe even an answer to my own question. I also searched on here and did find some topics but they never really answered the question and just died after a while.
So here is a deal, I replaced the whole stereo system in my car it is a 1990 240sx 5 speed btw. Anyways. I totally removed the whole harness out of the car, because I’m not going to be using it. Here is how my system works. I replaced all the speakers, ran all the speakers to the amp, and then just ran RCA cables from the amp to my system. The only three wires I’m using for my stereo from the whole wiring harness is the, Power antenna, the 12v, and the power on ignition wire, and also the system has two different ground with a noise reducer along the way. Here is my problem, I even have noise filters along my rca cables that go from my amp to the stereo, and I still get the whining drill noise from my speakers. I tried everything adjust the gain and all, I even made an extra ground wire from the battery to the chasy, and each amp has a really decent 0 gauge ground wire.
Now I was wondering could the whining noise be coming from maybe dirty connections on the Alternator, or a bad ground on the alt? Now I’m saying the alternator because when the car is off, everything sounds crystal clear .
I am going to be re-locating my battery too to the back of the car here in the next week so Il have shorter distances, but I just feel so dumbfound because electronics is my thing. Right about now I will take any advice.
