Something I have always wondered and hopefully can be fixed. Not a major issue, just annoying.

The factory unit didnt do it at all. Ever since the factory stereo and speakers were replaced, I hear a slight whining noise from what appears to be coming from the deck. Now I know its from the stereo since the older model deck I had the unit was able to be completely powered off and it would disappear once the deck was powered off. (the new D3 cant do that so its always constant)

It gets louder when I accelerate and goes back to the same level once I take my foot off the gas. Also, the noise is also present if the car is off and on ACC mode.

Any suggestions? If needed, I can try and take a sound clip of it in action if that helps. Thanks guys.

From the little experience I have, it sounds like a bad grounding issue with the new aftermarket stereo/speakers. Alternator whine I think it is called. Is there a slight popping when pushing the breaks that comes through the speakers as well? If so, the bad ground could also be too close to where the brake lights are grounded. Depending on who installed it, I would take it back and have them listen to the noise and repair the problem.

Also, I have heard of this "alternator whine" coming from running the RCA or speaker cables too close to the power cables. Either way, if a company installed it, they should be able to fix it. GL!

+1 i think hes on the right track...

Im not the AV guy, but my bet would be some sort of interference or lack of proper shielding/ground....

Im sure doc or apple will chime in with the "truth"

Yup, alternator whine it is. Nearly every time I've ever experienced this, upgrading the big three seems to eliminate the issue. Although, as rlm said, power and signal cables should be run in different locations. Try the big three first, and if that doesn't work, let us know and we can troubleshoot some more...

By the big three, I assume you mean the grounding kit right?
